Hi Everyone! Quick question about the Prussian Landwehr during WWI. I would have assumed that all of them would have been in combat during WWI, but I may be wrong. The reason I ask is I came upon this bar and I was wondering if it had the correct Cross of Honor of the World War? It is very difficult to tell if it is a next-of-kin or non-combatant's metal from the photo, but the ribbon is for a combatant's medal. What does anyone think? Thanks! Jason

And this one is on the way, and should be here tomorrow or Friday. The medals were arranged in the wrong order on the bar, so I have edited the photos so they are now correct (I will post actual updated photos when it arrives). In everyones opinion, would you leave the damaged ribbon on the end alone, or would you somehow try to repair it? Thanks! Jason

Hi Everyone! I recently purchased a Bavarian pre-WWI bar, and one of the medals is the steel Franco-Prussian War medal on a combatant's ribbon. I was going to replace this medal with a bronze (combatant's) medal, but I was reading a very interesting thread on another forum website: Combatant vs. Non-Combatant Ribbon Discussion With that in mind, has anyone else seen this, and is this in fact true? I have been trying to load a photograph of my bar into my photo album here, but have not been able to post anything new. The rest of the medals on the bar are as follows (from left to right): Steel Franco-Prussian War medal on combatant's ribbonBavarian bronze Army Commemorative Award from 1866Bavarian bronze 24 Year Long Service CrossWilhelm I Centenary medalAny thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated! Thank you, Jason

Hello everyone! I have been told that the War Commemorative Medal 1870-71 was sometimes issued as a replacement, etc., and that it would not have been rim impressed "From Captured Canon." Is this true, and does it make the medal any less valuable or historically accurate / interesting? Thank you! Jason

Hello Everyone! I have JUST started collecting Imperial German medals and happened upon this thread as I was researching my first German medal bar. I too have a W?rttemberg trio with the EKII reversed. Does anyone know exactly why the Iron Cross was sometimes reversed? Thank you for any information you can provide! Jason

The Star Medals

They are actually "dings" to the medal from what appears to be a sharp pointed object (possibly the points of another Star....). Jason -

Here are some more photos. No matter what I do, I can't get the color/focus/clarity all set in the same photo. Anyway, hope these will help some!! Jason
