    1. That's what I thought Jesse. I decided to pass on this one. I'll post up a couple of new arrivals tomorrow. I've just been looking at that enameled badge myself.....difficult to say to be honest. I'm not convinced. All the best.....Peter
    2. Interesting Eric....Any chance of a close-up. A very nice U-Boat collection from the 1970's turned up on a UK site this week. I managed to secure the 2 emblems which I'll post up when they arrive. But missed out on the O/S cap with the Sawfish attached. An emblem I'm sure would be considered original.
    3. Cheers guys....To the dealers credit, he did warn me this Visor was contentious but he stood by it. Shame, I was hoping it would be a good one. Thanks for the help....Peter
    4. Hi......Would appreciate some opinions on this Kriegsmarine Kapitan zur See officer's visor cap. I understand from the dealer that this one has mixed reviews and with his permission am posting it up for discussion. Thanks in advance....Peter
    5. I've just been offered this emblem...any thoughts would be appreciated. KR.....Peter
    6. Thanks for the comments guys. I tend to agree Gordon, as I say, I don't know a great deal about these Eagles but the Hinge/Pin and catch all look a bit cheap and flimsy to me as well. I suppose a late war Eagle could and would have been a lower quality piece but to many 'red flags' for me. Thanks again.....Peter
    7. Hi All...looking for opinions on this Eagle. I've got a chance on this one but really don't know much about them. Thanks in advance...Peter
    8. Thanks for the response guys. Yes, I agree, it's a nice piece and for me, completely period. I was hoping Gordon or Michel had encountered pieces like this one and would be able to post an opinion or similar pieces.
    9. Picked up this interesting piece the other day. Made in solid machined Brass, it's the 9th U-Boot Flottilla Emblem (Laughing Sawfish). The inscription around the base reads 'CHRISTMAS 1943'. After speaking to the dealer, it was evidently a gift to a U-Boat crewman and came direct from the family. Just wondering if anyone's seen anything like this before. It's quite small, about the size of an Iron Cross. Thanks in advance....Peter
    10. I thought I'd bump this thread back up with some period pictures that were posted on another forum. Interesting to see this must have been a common practice.
    11. Hi Justin, sorry for the late reply. I was scanning the web looking for Vintage clothing outlets. It's only how they describe the shirts so I guess you take it on faith :speechless:
    12. Ok Gordon, thanks for the help...I have found one German plaid shirt from the 1940's and I guess french would be plausible as well...
    13. Hi All...Bit of a long shot but is it still possible to find original Plaid shirts, the type the U-Boat crews would have worn. Also same question regarding Officers shirt and tie. Other than that what would be a fair modern day substitute. Thanks in advance...Peter
    14. Thanks for the help Gordon. Would be nice to pin this to a U-Boat but pleased it checks out. No KM stamps on the leather that I can find Morten. The buttons are a bit of a mix. The top button's stamp says ' Extra Fein' the rest are Overhoff and the Cuff buttons are stamped '19JFS42 KRIEGSMARINE' KR....Peter
