There is no question that Rommel was the best all round General of WWII. You've only got to look at the brilliant rear guard action in North Africa that he carried out with extremely limited resources as his supply lines from France/Italy had been cut by the allies. I wonder how many men would have turned out for his funeral had the man with 'Small man's Syndrome' had not had him take his own life through outrageous threats to his family.

The I.R.A. of the time was divided into those members who wanted a ceasefire witha view to peace, and those that wished to continue armed resistance. The remainder became the Provisional IRA, and continued a campaign of violence, continuing , its limited capacity until today. This further split into the Real/Continuity IRA, who have continued up until the Omagh outrage, and since seemed to have mainly tailed away.

Hi all, I must admit that I've never heard of the Typhoon theory, but that's no reason to discount it, though I've yet to hear the official German version. I have also read the firefly gunner's account, and I believe he was one of the Yeomanry units. It reminds me of the Red Baron's demise. Everyone claimed that one as well.
