you are right, it is beetween 1 or 2mm,wingspam wide is about 3,3mm,but be sure i dont have the exactly tools to get measures of item,thanks fernando

sorry john,the only problem is i dont have the good tools for getting measures,i did part of them:the widest part is:4,8cm approximatelly,the height from the eagle,s head top to down is approx:4cm,thickness is 2mm,no weight,as i told you,no tool for weight,im sorry so much,regards fernando

i agree john,im happy with the badge and i dont mind if is schwerin or S&L,this one is my first and only one u boat badge,and it is the most important thing to me,but all these discussions do this forum a great place for the collectors learn about,many thanks,for all,and my only hopeless is not resolve beetween schwerin and S&L but purchasing more km badges,at the moment i have a nice assmann minesweeper badge and this schwerin or S&L,both purchases from my friend and great collector KM-SPAIN,thanks to him too.

hi paul i have been checked my hat,and the buttons are us navy,gilt buttons with eagle facing right(if you see on left)but the eagle is standing a horizontal anchor,i think this is for us navy,isn,it?may be this cap is for a us navy cpo and was added this device from coast guard?what period was used this gilt coast guard device with screw back?i would like post pics but i dont know how do them smaller to post them,i would like opinions
