    1. The Iraqi SWAT ( special weapons and tactics) patches which I have posted above and any future ones is not exactly a police troop but a unit which is part of the Ministry of Interior Forces. The Ministry of Interior is responsible for policing and Border Control in Iraq. The MOI consists of several departments including Police Service, Highway Patrol, Traffic Department, Emergency response Units, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and Department of Border Enforcement. Bob
    2. This is another set of SWAT patches from Iraq. Both of the patches have velcro sewed onto the back. The patch on the left is 3 in. wide and 4 in. high. The patch on the right is 3.5 in. wide and 4.625 in high. Notice the quality difference between the two patches. Bob
    3. This is for the Iraqi SWAT arm patches. The one on the left is machine sewn, 3.18 in. wide and 3.5 in. high. The patch on the right is machine sewn, 3.5 in. wide and 3.75 in. high. Both patches have velcro sewed onto the back. These are the newer patches coming out of Iraq Bob

Hi Guys, I was going to wait until tomorrow morning to answer the question on what is a Crowd so here it is. 10 soldiers equal a section 30 soldiers (or more) equal a platoon 3 platoons (or more) equal a detachment (company) 3 detachments (or more) equal a crowd (battalion) 3 crowds (or more) equal a brigade 3 brigades (or more) equal a division 3 divisions (or more) equals a Legion (army Corps). So a Crowd is equal to roughly + or - 270 soldiers. Bob
    9. I have what I believe to be a Russian hat badge. It looks like the USSR coat of arms but that is all I know about it. It is 2.75 in. wide and 2.81 in. high. Does anyone have an identification and the use of the badge? Thank you in advance. Bob
    10. This is a gift plate for the Special Republican Guards Command. The plate is 6.5 in. dia. and the backing it is attached to is 9.5 in wide and 9.5 in. high.     11. This is a Table Flag for the 2nd. Detachment of the Special Republican Guards. It is a one sided flag, 12.5 in. long, 10 in. wide without the tassels. The tassels are 2.875 in. long. Table flags were and still are used in Iraq. The eye represents the Special Republican Guards are watching for the security of Saddam, the people and Iraq. The eight pointed star is the old Arab - Islamic star. Above eye: Special Republican Guard Below eye: 2nd. Detachment Bob
    12. This is a 1980, National Security College Badge. It is 1.375 in. dia. and has a stick pin for a fastening device. Translation: Course of the Leader President Saddam Huseyin, 17th of July 1980. National Security College. Bob
    13. This is a Iraqi Intelligence Beret Badge. It is 1.56 in. long and .875 in. wide. It has a heavy duty bracket on the reverse for a cotter pin or looped wire to pass thru. The badge was worn from 1991-2003 and believed to be worn on a black beret. The world map inside the eye was the Iraqi Intelligence emblem. Bob
    14. This hat badge was used in the General Kassim era. It is 1.75 in. dia and has two loops on the reverse for a cotter pin or a looped wire to go thru. Below; Police Bob
    15. This is a Rescue Police hat badge. It is 2.00 in. dia. and has a manufactured pin on the reverse for fastening to the uniform. There is also a smaller, 1.18 in. dia. exact version of the above badge which is used with the beret and has a safety pin for a fastening device. These badges were used mostly from 1990-2003.     16. This is a Policemen College Main Office medal badge. It is 1.81 in. high, 1.25 in wide and has a safety pin on the top bar for a fastening device. Above: Policemen College Main Office Below: Policemen College Bob
    17. This is a Policeman College badge that can be worn on the beret or collar.It is 1.25 in. dia. and has a safety pin for a fastening device. It was used by students mostly after 2000. The Police College was and is located at the east bank of the river near the Ministry of Interior Building near the center of Baghdad. Below: Policemen College. Bob
    18. This picture is for the visor hat badge (obverse and reverse) for the Iraqi Police. There are two variations of the badge. One has the stars in a vertical position and they were used from 1960's -1990 and the wording under the eagle is IRAQI REPUBLIC. The earlier badges were made in Romania. The second variation has the stars in a horizontal positon and they were used from 1991-2003 and the wording under the eagle is REPUBLIC OF IRAQ. The badges made after 1991 are of poorer quality as Iraq had to make their own. Both badges are made in a solid and stamped version. The larger 2.375 in. high and 1.75 in. wide hat badge is used by the Traffic Police and the students of the Police College. This is the solid (cast) version of the badge and is Iraqi made and of poorer quality. The smaller hat badge 2.06 in.high and 1.50 in wide and used by the Traffic Policeman.
