    1. Perhaps I am reading more into this than what is actually here but it seems as though you don't want to answer a simple question Lorenzo. As the club host you should make every effort to answer a members questions the way that you would want yours answered. I am detecting a level of animosity toward bmsm and his book. A brief description of each piece of insignia would answer the question asked and would serve to assist other collectors in this field, which is what you purport to do... When you post items you don't know about you like to get an honest answer from others ie. Owain, Ed Haynes, Bob, right down to myself last night, on your Chinese canteen. Why won't you respond in kind and share the knowledge? Merely posting items doesn't help anyone, they like to know if at all possible what the items are, who used them and when. Bob is the expert in the field of Iraqi collctibles and he has offered to share his knowledge and work with others. This is what makes him the go to person, not the size of his personal collection. When he seeks to expand his knowledge, the information will become available for all those interested in this field. Try to be a bit more helpful, it will go a long way. Scott.
    2. I like the little scissors Bob, I think they belong to the Iraqi produced version of Monopoly called Baghdadopoly. It's the game where you get a "get out of of jail untortured" card, and when you pass go you collect 200 dinars for Saddam Husseins private account, "Free Parking" is replaced by exile in Jordan... Scott.
    3. Lorenzo, this is a Chinese canteen. I brought one home like this as well. You don't see very many like this in Iraq. Scott.
    4. Bob Misslings book (member bmsm). You should all get one while they are available Scott.
    5. Beret from a unit recognized by Saddam Hussein for bravery.
    6. We could all post rank slides all day long, that doesn't answer the question that Bob asked. Who decided that certain ranks were German made? Who in Germany made them and what were the characteristics or styles that they made? What period were they made in? These are the things we need to nail down and try to get out for future collectors. As for anything from Trident Military being original, all I would say is let the buyer beware. A Uniform made for Saddam Hussein and never picked up by him, is no more attributable than a copy on E-bay. If he never picked it up and never used it, then it was never his. Unless you subscribe to the line of thought that everything belonged to the dictator. Then that means I have a ton of Saddam's uniforms. So lets all try to figure out what ranks, if any, are German made and who made them and during what years. No speculation, or guesswork, just cold hard researched facts. Scott.
    7. Para and Special Forces Insignia. Scott.
    8. Air Force and Air Defence insignia. Scott
    9. Here is Fedayeen and Military College insignia. Scott.
    10. Here is a three part view of my large display cabinet. I am in the process of moving items around to see what looks best. Scott. pt 1
    11. Here is a much nicer picture of my Republican Guard Special Forces Table Emblem. Scott.
    12. Here is the inside of my Polish Wz-50 Helmet that I brought back from Iraq in 2003. Notice the very used condition and the Arabic writing on many of the liner tongues. Scott.
    13. Lorenzo, I would have to disagree with you on some of these. The Second Lieutenant (top left), notice the double stitching across the top and bottom of the board, also the way the center of the star is "staked" by stitching. This is very good quality and certainly a good pair of ranks. The single pair in your next post, most definetly bad. As Paul said, looks like Tridents. Scott.
    14. Perhaps a bit opposite of the topic, but I thought I would let all members know that I have been hassled by the police recently. Well, former police at any rate, a certain former British copper has seen fit to send parcels through a third party thus depriving me of my God given right to reciprocate in kind . Said retired officer, who currently resides in South Africa had a fantastic copy of his book deposited in my mail box today. While this form of harrassment is welcome (and highly encouraged), I am now chaffed that as a boisterous American, I cannot dispense some form of gratitude in the mail. So, now I have to go public with my thank you so that all members can be aware that we have the best bunch of people in the collecting community on this forum. Scott.
    15. Hi Paul, I don't know the price, you would have to contact Bob by PM at bmsm. It is a great reference though! :jumping: Scott.
    16. Reading Bob Misslings book on Iraqi Militaria! A great new field for collectors and a great work by Bob!
