    1. That's good news... The pics shown by Soviet display boxes that are visibly here for "tourists"; as I agree, only these could buy these simple medals at such a high and unreasonable price. Ch.
    2. Thanks Kim, it is difficult to have an idea, regarding the angle and the definition of the pic. Thanks again. Ch.
    3. I knwo who is the seller of the orders and medals posted by Bryan. The point is that prices (his and others') increased a lot these last months because their main market is now Russia, where they can sell ALL (including very rare orders) at very high prices!!!! The secondary effect beside the skyrocketing prices, is that the dealers keep the good stuff for the Russian market, and it is sometimes difficult to find interesting items here.. Ch.
    4. Thanks to Kim , the second order has been identified : it is Орден "Отанга кызметi ушiн". More Kazakhstani awards can be seen here: http://www.lyakhov.kz/chronicle/awards.shtml What we don't know yet is how to translate the Kazakh name of this award... Ch.

    10. Hi Ed, A very nice place where you are!!! Something tells me I should go there... Also a very good news : they seem to have cleaned the frames... Do you have any chance to see - and hand - the awards ? I'm really pleased for you to be there. Cheers. Ch.
    11. Here is the Order of Peter the Great. "The Order of Peter the Great was established by the Academy of Security, Defense, Law and Order. It is the highest civic reward in the Russian Federation, which is granted on the basis of unselfish deeds, valor, courage and heroism that is displayed while fulfilling a military, official or civic duty. This medal constitutes an eight-pointed golden star, which is then circled with a laurel wreath and semi-precious stones. On the back side is inscribed "For strengthening Russia" and "The Academy of Security of Law and Order". Previous figures to have been awarded this Order include the Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow and Russia, Alexiy II, UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, Russia's first President Boris Yeltsin, Nobel Prize winner Zhores Alfyorov and the first woman astronaut Valentina Tereshkova. The Academy of Security, Defense, Law and Order is a scientific center that unites the initiatives of all state institutions working in this area. The Academy?s activities have been supported by the Russian Federation's Security Council, as well as the President?s envoys to Russia?s federal districts. " It is not exactly an "official" governmental award, hence the fact it is not mentioned in "official references. Ch.

    16. The General Designer of Ivchenko-Progress has been awarded three awards on 10 April 2006. These are described as such in the Ivchenko-Progress website : "10.04.2006 According to the decision of the Executive Committee of Counsil of Slavonic Peoples and the Panel of experts of ?XXI century leaders? international imidge programme, General Designer F.M. Muravchenko is awarded with a title of Complete Holder of international rewards ?Slavonic Honour, Valour, Glory?, for ?notable contribution in progress of Ukrainian society, national economy, renascence of spirituality and Slavonic unity?. The certificate is signed by 3 responsibles of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. I have found no information about these "awards", obviously non-official. Interesting to notice the importance given to such awards by a man who is a real Hero of Ukraine... Ch. Pic : The 3 awards - (www.ivchenko-progress.com).

    18. I don't know what it's worth, but Goodman identifies this badge (and probably similar for the 3 same style others...) as a "SSBN Serviceman's badge - c. 1970s-1980s". Hope this helps. Ch.
