Soviet Soviet & Eastern Block Quiz
Ed_Haynes replied to Christophe's topic in Russia: Soviet: Other Militaria
By George, I think you've got it! We await Jim . . . . -
While I am sensitive to over-extending the generous assistance of fellow forumites, I thought I'd post what I have of his long personnel file (what we in South Asia would call the "long rolls", as opposed to the "short rolls"). Anything that can be salvaged would be appreciated. Some day, I shall need a full translation, but I am (also) running the risk of overloading translator-friends (also). I'll be cutting the pages into small(er) pieces for easier (?) reading.

Soviet Soviet & Eastern Block Quiz
Ed_Haynes replied to Christophe's topic in Russia: Soviet: Other Militaria
True, true. I know the free-fall of the $US all TOO personally. Also, in at least the Soviet and Mongolian fora, long delays in research has probably contributed to silence. More specifically, Jim has thrown us a question! -
Soviet Soviet & Eastern Block Quiz

Both, maybe. I do sense a significant (and unfortunate) draw-down in activity in most non-Teutonic sub-fora. Summer vacations? Malaise? -
Thanks for this Peter. It is important to remember (especially on a forum such as this one) the wide range of international volunteers who came to the defense of the Spanish Republic. Only a few countries, such as Ireland (instigated by the Church), had significant pro-fascist contingents. My notes also show the "Mac-Paps" in the XV Lincoln Brigade (founded February 1937, Lincoln-Washington Brigade from March 1938). Any idea how many "Mac-Paps" survive? The ALB has an interesting veterns' website at http://www.alba-valb.org/ though few of the veterans are left. The online copies of their newsletter are especially interesting.

We all know: The "Experts" would dismiss it out of hand as a fake (unless they happened to own one just like it).
