    1. I managed to write an article on that award for my website finally http://www.antique-photos.com/en/awardsdatabase/weimarawards/156-regiment-taxis-commemorative-medal-.html
    2. Thanks for identification, gentlemen! As for the uniform, how he managed to wear WW2 tunic and visor cap with NS Hoheitsabzeichen in 1957 or later???
    3. Any comments and help with identification of that General as well as his awards are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
    4. Amusing detail: please note the way he wears EK-I 1939 clasp!!! Harb Madalyasi can be seen beneath thet weird combination. Baltenkreuz is worn on the right breast pocket of the tunic.
    5. Recent addition to my collection of portrait photos. No dedciation on the backside, no info from the seller. UV test passed Ok, portrait seems to be taken out of a frame.
    6. Thanks for your reply, Chris! You are right regarding timeframe of a wear of that medal. I really can't get any info on that medal anywhere... Any ideas where some details could be found?
    7. Could anyone please helpwith acquiring any useful info regarding that Jubiläums-Medaille des 2.Königlich Bayerischen Chevaulegers Regiments “Taxis”? All I know is that it was instituted in 1932, was 36 mm in diameter and weighed 19,88 g. Any additional info, e.g. when exactly and by whom it was instituted, how many pieces were issued, was it granted to vets or had to be purchased as all the other Weimar-era awards, etc. Could you please post a good image of that medal as well (obverse and reverse)? I even can't make out ribbon colour... Many thanks in advance!
    8. I just have added this interesting portrait to my collection. Medal bar is quite typical for a Bavarian WWI veteran but the last medal is really a rare one to be seen on photos.
    9. Please have a look here, maybe that one could help: http://antique-photos.com/en/awardsdatabase/weimarawards/98-prince-alfons-commemorative-badge.html
    10. Thanks a lot, Glenn, for your support! By the way I just downloaded the book you mentioned earlier, i.e. "Handbuch derRitter- und Verdienstorden", thanks for a hint!
    11. Many thanks for your help, Glenn!!! And any ideas regarding a reliable online resource to read about those Papal awards? All that I came across concentrates on the modern day situation or digs too deep in the history covering medieval years, and mostly not on decorations but rather on the existence of the Order itself)
    12. A reliable link to learn more about those two orders (grades, award criteria, description, etc.) is highly appreciated as well! Thanks in advance!
    13. Could you please post your expertise as I'm not familiar with the Vatican awards The questions are: 1. Is it possible to identify that officer judging from those awards? 2. Please clarify an issue with the exact grades of awards he wears. Here are two close-ups.
    14. Hello, gentlemen! I just bought this slightly faded but quite rare (hopefully) family portrait with a Landwehr or Reserve Prussian officer (Major/Oberstleutnant). Head of the family is the holder of two Vatican awards, namely: - The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulture of Jerusalem (neck award + breast star); - The Pontifical Order of Pope St.Sylvester (knight's cross).
    15. File Name: Das Dueppeler Sturm-Kreuz (Berlin, 1867) File Submitter: Freiwillige File Submitted: 24 Jul 2012 File Category: Germany An original period book about the Dueppeler Sturm-Kreuz published in Berlin in 1867. It is a part of Prussian series "Die Preussischen Orden, Ehrenzeichen und Auszeichnungen". Click here to download this file
    16. Scan of the reverse. First part of a dedication remains a mystery to me (something senseless like "Me u hut von Ammie") but the final part was read by my German colleague as "Seiner lieben Emmeli Engelhardt zur Erinnerung an die schönen Tage in Bad Elster Juni-Juli 1940".
    17. Fragment No.3: breast awards and badges. EK 1.Klasse ausg.1914, Baltenkreuz, Kolonialauszeichnung 1.Klasse (aka Loewenorden).
