    1. Also , and this is the end of his message , the sashes are NOt awards, but kind of "Office Rank Sign" In this picture you see how it is worn by some of the recipients. Right chest seems to be the usual way, even though the lady is wearing it on her left. The sashes have nothing to do with the medal. They go with specific 'galar' titles for the regional principalities within Langkat. Thanks so much Christopher, all the credit goes to you. Emmanuel
    2. Hello Gentlemen, I got an email from Christopher Buyer, he's very very busy at the moment, so I take the liberty to post his reply concerning the Sultanate of Langkat . He aslo send me a much better picture of the Medal they now award.. Thanks Christopher : Hello Emmanuel, I saw your post on the Gentlemen's Military Interest Club about Langkat. Langkat now has a medal known as the "Darjah Kehormatan Kesultan Negeri Langkat". That would translate as something like the "Decoration of Honour of the Sultan of the State of Langkat". I think it was first bestowed 20.3.2013 and was given to all those who received a tradition 'galar' title, irrespective of what it was. The medal is an eight pointed star, 'square on diamond' suspended from a medal ribbon by a ring and eye from a yellow ribbon with green edge stripes, and three narrow stripes of red-white red down the centre. I do not think the ribbon is silk. Looks like some artificial fabric. The following gentlemen were, for example, invested with these titles and received this decoration on the same date: Haji Tengku ‘Abdu’l Hamid as Tengku Kejuruan Sri Setia Raja. Haji Tengku Syah Djohan, Kejuruan as Tengku Kejuruan Sri Bija di-Raja of Stabat Haji Tengku Haidir Soelaiman as Tengku Kejuruan Sri Amar Setia, of Bingei Haji Tengku Alfit Hashim Saktishahdan bin Tengku Abdul Murad as Tengku Kejuruan Indra Pahlawan, of Bahorok ... several others
    3. Hello Taz, The single ribbon on first row I cannot identify it, but on second row, the medals of WOI Martin are : T&T Defense Force Medal for Anti Coup d'Etat in 1990 (in 1990 there was a Coup d'Etat attempt by a group of muslim radicalist, it failed). T&T Defense Force Humanitarian Service Medal T&T Defense Force Efficiency Medal (the Efficiency Decoration has a slightly different ribbon). Do you have a close-up view on the medal ribbon bar ? Here is some info about failed Coup d'Etat. But the T&T Defense Force Medal for Anti Coup d'Etat was insituted much later in 2002. I was said a few hundred were awarded. Maybe some only get the ribbon bar. No idea if Trinidad & Tobago actually awards medals to Officer,NCO & Private, or if they award ribbon bar to all, but medals only to Officer ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamaat_al_Muslimeen_coup_attempt Emmanuel
    4. In an auction in 2012 I have purchased this medal, that is a Langkat Sultanate Medal from before WWII. A similar medal was in the catalogues from Klenau auction in the 1970ies (with a similar ribbon). It's a small metal gilt medal, diameter is 21 millimeter. This medal is also on the web site of Christopher Buyer (Royal Ark). I went to Langkat in the hope that there would be this medal in one of the showcase of their small museum (very close to the mosque), and there would be the actual ribbon. But no medals in their museum, actually it's good this museum (even if small) exist, because it shows artefacts from the Langkat history before WWII). If anyone can add some thought , it would be great. Emmanuel
    5. Others photo of the Sultan of Langkat (not related to the article which I mention above, but same kind of ceremony). If anyone could find photo with close up view, that would be great. It has taken me a lot of time.... Emmanuel
    6. In january I've been to Medan, no medals in the Mainum Palace from the Deli Sultanate, but I've been to Langkat that is located 60 kilometers north of Medan. A very small museum there, but no medals either (the Palace of Langkat has been burned in 1946 or 47). Later I've been in other part of Sumatra, in an hotel I catch a magazine with an article on the Sultan of Langkat, and with photo of awards of medals. It's in bahasa indonesian, so if Windu could help, it would be great . Emmanuel
    7. Hello Gentlemen, It's very nice to add a lot of information concerning the Sultanate of Surakarta, but without picture it's a bit boring. I had the occasion to purchase this neck badge, that was said to me is for Surakarta (and the case perfectly fits). I know there will be members that will objects the crown in center look like the crown in center of Kelantan Order, and also on some Federal Malaysia Order (and believe me I know Orders & Medals of Malaysia very well), by the way it was produced in Malaysia. Actually I do not know if this silver gilt neck badge is from Surakarta or from another Sultanate in Indonesia, but it was said to me it is. It's diameter is 68 millimeters. Regards. Emmanuel
    8. According to my files R is 1966 (for Birmingham) ; But still an early piece, as the later manufacturer Arthus Bertrand & Huguenin were less well made. www.silvercollection.it/englishsilverhallmarksBIR.html Emmanuel
    9. These are the hallmarks on the Nigeria Fire Fighter MSM Medal. Emmanuel
    10. And the last one for today.... Nigeria Fire Fighter : Long Service & Good Conduct Medal. Beautifull quality strike, but silvered metal (no hallmarks). Emmanuel
    11. Here is the Nigeria Fire Fighter Meritorious Service Medal. In real silver (hallmarked : T.J.S. for manufacturer & an Anchor, a lion & the letter U for the metal). Anchor & lion are for city Birmingham & U is for 1969. Emmanuel
    12. The Fire Service of Nigeria got also their serie of awards. Here is the Gallantry Cross of Nigeria Fire Service (reverse is blank). Emmanuel
    13. Here, again Meals for the Nigeria Custom Service are not recorded, but at least the LSGC Medal exist. I had a "snap" that day, and I miss it on the online sale web site everybody knows. The highest bidder (a custom officer from czech republic that had a web site at some times in the past), has got the heretic idea to cut the suspension knob, like if it was a coin !!!! You can check by yourself from both pictures, the one with black background are the pictures that was on eBay in february 2006, the ones with withe background are those posted on his web site. Schocking !!!! Shame on him. Emmanuel
    14. Text refer to a full serie of awards for the Nigeria Prison Service. I ounce got an "un-recorded" one : Nigeria Prison Service Cross (it came with this green/white/green ribbon, much narrow than the ribbon for Independence Medal). No idea if the correct ribbon or not. If any body has comments to make, again he's most welcome to. Pictures of officers from the Nigeria Prison Service would be helpfull. Emmanuel
    15. Here the Nigeria Police Meritorious Service Medal. I never saw a LSGC Nigeria Police. But if someone has got a Nigeria Police MSM or LSGC for sale, he can contact me. Emmanuel
    16. Now the Police, with the Nigeria Police Gallantry Cross Emmanuel
    17. Here is 2 very nice medal groups showing the Nigeria Operational Medals The first is a group to certainly an officer : River Niger Star, Independence Medal, Defense Service Medal, National Service Medal, General Service Medal , Republic Medal and last the UN Medal for the Congo with 2nd ribbon. The third, fourth & fifth of its medal are related to the Nigerian Civil War or Biafra War. The 2nd group most probably to a N.C.O. : Republic Medal, General Service Medal, National Service Medal & Defense Service Medal. Emmanuel
    18. Here is an interesting award : Nigeria Shooting Medal (the onliest I have ever seen). Emmanuel
    19. This is a medal everybody has already seen, the Independence of Nigeria Medal, but that one is a contemporary striking (crips détails & medal and the suspension not struck together). I have to add that I recently saw the Nigeria 50th Anniversary of independence Medal (beautifull medal with enameled center). Emmanuel
    20. This is an operationnal medal for which I never got any information at all : Operation Harmony On reverse you can see the Coat of Arms of the Nigerian Armed Forces with the symbol of the Army, the Navy & the Air Force. I got this medal in the lot from which I bought the River Niger & River Benue in 2003. If anyone has more information to bring, he's most welcome. Emmanuel
    21. Here is 2 Commemorative Jubilee Medal, the Army Silver Jubilee Medal (with its original ribbon), and a medal I recently catch : Nigeria Navy Gold Jubilee Medal If anybody has an idea of what could be the ribbon for that Navy Gold Jubilee, he's most welcome. Emmanuel
    22. Here is the Nigeria : Force Service Star Emmanuel
    23. Here the Nigeria Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (this medal is often to be found without ribbon, but ribbon is almost impossible to get). The colours symbolise the navy (dark blue), the army (red) and the air force (sky blue). Emmanuel
    24. Here the Nigeria Army Distinguished Service Medal Emmanuel
    25. Here , the Nigeria Eagle Medal (it's metal gilt, not gold !). Emmanuel
