    1. Hello Gentlemen, long time ago I had the opportunity to buy a White Cross of the Civil Guard. I do not use to collect badges, but the seller pointed me that the badge here belonged to the person who sold him the cross. Actually it's the Unit Badge of the Music Band of the Civil Guard of Estonia. Long time I seeked where I could share pictures on this forum, now I found the correct place. Emmanuel
    2. Here is the Sarawak KE-25 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Union of Sarawak to Malaysia. I was told this medal exist also in silver (or silvered metal) as 2nd Class and that a 1st Class gold (or gilt metal) was also presented to highest guest, but only as a non wearble medal for the latter. The medal is 33 millimeters in diameter & suspension swivel. The obverse inscription : "Jubili Perak 1988" means Silver Jubilee 1988. Perak is a State of the Federation of Malaysia, but the word Perak means also "silver" in malay. Emmanuel
    3. Here is the Sarawak KE-30 Medal to Commemorate the 30 Years of Union with Malaysia in 1993. Emmanuel
    4. Here is a picture of the Sarawak 40 Years of Union with Malaysia Anniversary Medal KE-40. Emmanuel
    5. Here the 2 size side by side 32 x 43 millimeters for smaller & 45 x 60 millimeters for large size. Emmanuel
    6. Hello Gentlemen, new discovery !!! It seems that a larger size badge was also produced for the Order of Cultural Merit of Tunisia. Maybe the large size was used for Commander alone, and smaller neck badge as the accessoiry badge of the Grand Officer class ? We will probably never know. Its size is 45 x 60 millimeters (reverse is blank). Ribbon width is same 37 millimeters as all modern french ribbon. On next post I will show you the 2 size side by side. Emmanuel
    7. And now the Agricultural Merit Order of Republic of Congo . Again I can only guess this Order is a 3 classes award following thevfrench tradition of 3 classes for specific merit awards So that one should be a 2nd Class. Despite not in silver, but silvered metal,it's very beautifully made and the tree is hollow carved. As often for modern african award, reverse is blank Diameter : 40 millimeters. Emmanuel
    8. The Order of Sport Merit seems to be also a multi class award (certainly 3 : bronze, silver, gold). Here I can present you a gold one (actually it's metal gilt with enamel). You can compare the gilt one (1st Class ?) to the silvered one (2nd Class ?) awarded to Aziz Daouda. In the center of the yellow enamel is a stylised seated woman holding the national motto : Unite - Travail - Progres (Unity-Work-Progress) Diameter 40 millimeters & reverse is blank. Emmanuel
    9. Hello Gentlemen, despite General Sekouba Konate from Guinea got a Grand Cross of the National Order of Peace of the Republic of Congo from the hand of Président Denis Sassou Nguesso, it seems that this National Order of Peace is a multi class award. And now I can present you the 5th Class (reverse is blank). Diameter : 36 millimeters Emmanuel
    10. Now both side by side. Size is 100 % same. My opinion is that the Al Athir at left could be to algerian citizen & algerian living abroad and the Al Athir at right could be to non algerian citizen. If anyone has something to bring that would clarify this mistery he's most welcome. Emmanuel
    11. Here obverse & reverse of a similar Al Athir decoration than the one awarded to Zinedine Zidane. Emmanuel
    12. Hello Gentlemen I agree the badge above could be and certainly is the Al Athir for foreigner. But it exist another kind of badge similar but without enamel and ribbon different. Zinedine Zidane the famous french football player (who's parent are from Algeria) was awarded Al Athir by President Bouteflika in 2006. http://www.djazaires...dent+Bouteflika Watch the short video : Various article in french all of them refer to Al Athir the highest award Algeria can give. But maybe the Al Athir for national or foreign national (like Zinedine Zidane who as long as I know has both citizenship french & algerian),might be of a slightly different than the Al Athir when awarded to foreign dignitaries. If anyone has pictures of foreign people with their algerian Order of Merit, this could help us to resolve this mystery. Mohamed el Baradei (who is egyptian) & Director of AIEA (International Agency for Atomic Energy) & South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun were also awarded the Al Athir. If anyone has a picture of them wearing this decoration ? For President Roh Moo Hyun the award took place during an official visit he did in Alger in march 2006. Maybe Ilja could help ? But it is now sure that the ribbon red/green/white/green/red despite beeing algerian is NOT the one of the Order of Merit. On later follwing post I will show picture of that one. Emmanuel
    13. Algeria : Medal of the Martyr of the War of National Liberation (Law 84-03 of 2 January 1984). It's only a posthumous award for gloryfying the memory of those who gave their life for the Independence. It's a 100 millimeters medal. There is supposed to be an award number on reverse side alongside the date 1954-1962. Emmanuel
    14. Algeria : Medal of Wounded (Law 90-27 of 24 November 1990). The Medal of Wounded with citation is similar and awarded if the wound is done in a situation of war or civil uprising while the person who is awarded the medal is on his duty. Emmanuel
    15. Algeria : Medal of Military Merit (Law 81-06 of 6 June 1981 & modified by Law 90-28 of 24 November 1990). This Military medal is to be awarded to Officers & N.C.O. who distinguished themselve by their skills and during their duty after 20 years of service. The medal can be awarded after 15 years if the awardee has been also awarded the Wounded Medal. It's interesting to watch how this medal is made (the frame with inscription on obverse is a separate part). Emmanuel
    16. Algeria : National People's Army Medal (Law 86-04 of 11 February 1986).The shape of the badge was set by decree 87-177 of 18 August 1987. This medal exist in bronze, silver & gold. Medal without V device on ribbon are for civil who work for the defense. Actually it's a Long Service award. The medal with 1 V is for 15 years of service & the medal with 2 V is for 25 years of service. But it is said that the promotion to 2nd V is not automatic. Emmanuel
    17. Algeria : Medal of the Friends of the Algerian Revolution (Law 87-13 of 30 June 1987). Awarded to foreigner who supported the algerian revolution. It seems it's a 2 classes medal,as specimen have been seen with emboidered gold star on ribbon. It also seems that several algerian were awarded it,so maybe the the 2nd Class (without gold star on ribbon) is for foreigner & the 1st Class with gold star is for algerian citizen. But I have no proof (only a guess). From Algeria we lack of information much. Emmanuel
    18. Algeria : Medal of the Resistance (Law 84-03 of 2 January 1984). Awarded for members of the civil resistance. It is not possible someone got awarded both Resistance Medal & Army National Liberation Medal. Emmanuel
    19. Algeria : ALN Medal or Army National Liberation Medal in english (law 84-03 of 2 January 1984). Awarded to those who fought for the Liberation during the war against France. Lots of others such medals I have seen were not numbered, but on mine it is stamped number,so I guess the first batch were issued numbered. These medals were manufactured in Germany by Bender (their name is on reverse). Emmanuel
    20. From left to right : Military Medal Medal of the Friends of the Algerian Revolution (ribbon exist with central emboidered gold star & without gold star) National People's Army = Long Service Medal (medal with 1 V = 15 Years of Service, medal with 2 V = 25 Years of Service) Emmanuel
    21. And the reverse of the breats star with a different ,certainly early design with safety clutch. The weight of the breast star I own is 47 grammes. Height : 56 millimeters & width : 60 millimeters (from left tip to right tip). Emmanuel
    22. And the reverse of the neck badge to show how the cocarde is attached to the neck ribbon. Emmanuel
    23. Here the Bintang Gerilja as a set with ribbon. And yes I confirm the breast star which is very small (56 millimeters) is rare.In a very big indonesian ODM collection auctioned in London in 2004 there was a neck badge with same cocarde ribbon as presented here, but no breast star. In the Kraton Museum at Yogyakarta they don't have the breast star either. Emmanuel
