    1. The last medal of this series is : Queen Ingrid 50th Anniversary of her Arrival in Denmark. After her wedding with Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, in Stockholm, on 24 May 1935; the newly wed couple travelled to Copenhagen on the danish royal yacht Dannebrog, where they arrived on 26 May 1935. Queen Ingrid was very much loved by the danish people, and by her family. She was a woman with extraordinary willpower, judgement, flair and discipline. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    2. I have to include this medal on the list, despite I never had the occasion to see one with my own eyes. This is the Queen Margrethe II & Prince Hendrik Silver Jubilee Wedding Commemorative Medal 1967-1992 Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark is wearing this medal on his medal bar (first row, at extreme right). If any one has a good close up color photo of this medal, he is most welcome to post it here. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    3. Here is the Queen Margrethe II Silver Jubilee Medal 1972-1997. The "Elephant Order Blue ribbon" is embroidered with crown. This medal is well known, but good quality color photo are not that easy to get. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    4. Here is the King Frederik IX Centenary Medal : 1899-1999 The medal bar is hallmarked on reverse. King Frederik IX was King of Denmark from 1947 to 1972, and was succeeded by his daughter Queen Margrethe II King Frederik IX was the husband of Queen Ingrid. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    5. I choose to add some more Royal Commemorative Medal from the reign of Queen Margrethe II, that do not belong to the Group shown above. Here is Queen Ingrid Memorial Medal which commemorate the Passing of Queen Ingrid : 7-11-2000 Princess Ingrid was born 28 March 1910, as the daughter of the future King Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden ( King of Sweden 1950-1973 ). In 1935 she travelled to Denmark to marry Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark ( the future King Fredrick IX 1947-1972 ). Queen Ingrid died on 7 November 2000, and her Funeral took place on 14 November 2000, were attended by many european royalties. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    6. And their reverse, respectively : Queen Margrethe II & Prince Hendrik Golden Wedding Jubilee Medal 1967-2017 Queen Margrethe II 75th Anniversary Medal 2015 Queen Margrethe II 40th Anniversary Jubilee of Reign 1972-2012 Queen Margrethe II 70th Anniversary Medal 2010 Prince Hendrik 75th Anniversary Medal 2009 Denmark Home Guard Good Service Medal And the last one, which is awaited to be "mounted" with the others : Prince Hendrik Funeral Commemorative Medal 13-2-2018 Such an amazing Royal Household Group will likely never to be offered for sale. So it's a unique opportunity to see such medals in a group. With good quality photo. All medals are silver, or silver-gilt (for the Golden Wedding Jubilee Medal 1967-2017). Regards to all. Emmanuel
    7. Hello Gentlemen, When I was in Copenhagen in late June 2018, I had the unique opportunity to take photographies of a Royal Household Group of Medal, said to belong to one of the main Secretary of her Majesty Queen Margrethe II. To have the opportunity to see these medals with my own eyes, I understood it was a "life-opportunity". I asked if I could take photo, and as I was replied : "Yes", I did. To get better photo, I took them 2 by 2. From left to right : Queen Margrethe II & Prince Hendrik Golden Wedding Jubilee Medal 1967-2017 (blue ribbon with 1 tiny golden stripe in the middle). Queen Margrethe II 75th Anniversary Medal 2015 (with a ribbon of the Order of the Danneborg and a M cypher on ribbon). Queen Margrethe II 40th Anniversary Jubilee of Reign 1972-2012 (bleu ribbon and a M cypher on ribbon). Queen Margrethe II 70th Anniversary Medal 2010 ( with plain bleu ribbon). Prince Hendrik 75th Anniversary Medal 2009 ( with plain bleu ribbon & H cypher on ribbon ). It is interesting to point that the shade of blue of many of these Royal Commemoratives Medal correspond to the Order of the Elephant blue ribbon. Denmark Home Guard Good Service Medal And the last one, which was awaited to be "mounted" with the others : Prince Hendrik Funeral Commemorative Medal 13-2-2018 I will post the reverse of the medals on the next post. Regards. Emmanuel

    9. I choose to add 2 photo from the funeral. The 1st one, in the Church, (the Royal House of Denmark shall be credited for this photo. The 2nd photo, with Danish Guard Carrying the Coffin of Prince Hendrik ; Getty Images shall be credited. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    10. Hello Gentlemen, I had the occasion to visit a friend in Copenhagen in June 2018. This person is in charge of the mounting of medal bar for the Danish Armed Forces. Randomly that same day, an NCO came to pick up this medal bar. I had already seen the medal for the Funeral of Prince Hendrik, on the web site of the Royal House, but it was the first time I had the occasion to see one, with my eyes. I kindly asked this person, if I could take photos, and he agreed. So, here they are. He later explained me, that he was one of the men in charge from carrying the coffin. Prince Hendrik died on 13 February 2018, and his Funeral were held on 20 February 2018. The medal is 28 Millimeters in Diameter, and it was awarded on 11 June 2018 (the day of the Birthday of Prince Hendrik). The medal official abbreviation is Pr.H.Mm. The quality of the medal is superb (as ever with danish medal). I just checked now, and I was in Copenhague from 19 to 21 June 2018. Couldn't have been a best time. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    11. Hello Gentlemen, In these incertain time, the Kingdom of Denmark choose to maintain, the Tradition. To commemorate the 80th Birthday of Queen Margreth II, a silver medal was issued, on 16 April 2020. I have not seen this medal, and maybe will never have the occasion. But in the Kingdom of Denmark, one thing is sure, the quality of this medal is stunning (as ever). I would be happy to know how many such a medal have been awarded, as the Birthday of the Queen was celebrated, with a very small number of guest attended (likely only her 2 Son's Prince Hendrik with Princess Mary & Prince Joachim). I read the message of wishes sent by all the royalty of Europe, that were suppose to attend, but due to coronavirus, they all send their wishes by Letters, or by Zoom. Long Lives the Queen. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    12. Hello Gentlemen, Hello Jan, I have found these 2 photo of a Grand Collar of the Order of Lankandula on the net. I have never seen one with my eyes. This Order is very hard to get (even for those who have been many times to Manila). Regards. Emmanuel
    13. Hello Gentlemen, Very little is known about this : Medal for Heroism in Time of Disaster. There is the symbolism of the sun with the 3 stars, like on the white part triangle of the National Flag of the Philippines.. But we might guess it's a kind of civil gallantry award. Manufacture is more modern, likely from the end of the 1980ies, or 1990ies. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    14. And last from the list, is the Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk 6th Years of Enthronement Medal. There is some medal list that refer this, but I have been able to get, only this sketch, from a facebook page from a Royal Bhutan Society. Actually it seems it was manufactured by Thomas Fattorini of Birmingham. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    15. Hello Gentlemen, Here is a medal that is mentioned in many data source. But yet, I have not seen this medal worn. It's King Jigme Singye Wangchuk 60th Birthday Medal. As King Jigme Singye is born in 1952, this medal shall have been instituted in 2012, by his son, the current King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk, likely to pay tribute to his father. But I have no idea on how much were made, or even awarded. I would be happy if ever I could get one for my collection..... The medal was made by Royal Insignia of Singapore. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    16. Hello Gentlemen, Here is the Coronation of Druk Gyalpo & Centenary of the Monarchy Commemorative Medal 2008. The medal is silver, and was made by Royal Insignia of Singapore. I do not know if this medal was instituted shortly before, or after the Coronation medal I have described on the post above. But here it is. From a post of Antonio Prieto in 2018, it seems that this medal is worn by 3 Officers on the photo. But none are wearing the coronation medal. It is possible that this Medal was more widely awarded that the Coronation Medal. I have to mention that on a post of 3 may 2014, our fellow member fjcp had posted a medal, but the medal he posted the photo is actually a mix, between the ribbon of the Centenary of the Monarchy Medal, and the pendant of the Silver Jubilee of Enthronement of King Jigme Singye Wangchuk. Actually on that same time (spring 2014), there was a dealer from Paro, who was selling just a few medals from Bhutan on eBay. I even remember his name, but I will not mention it here, not to put him in trouble there. I bought 3 Medals from him, and then this seller never pops up any more on eBay. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    17. Hello Gentlemen, Here we have the Coronation Medal of King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk. He succeeded his father King Jigme Singye on 14 December 2006, but Enthronement Ceremony was on 6 November 2008. This medal exist at least in Gold (gilt) and Silver. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    18. In 1999 was instituted this Medal for the 25th Anniversary of the Coronation of King Jigme Singye Wangchuk. It is interesting to mention that King Singye was King of Bhutan from 15 July 1972, when he succeeded his father. But the coronation took place on 2 June 1974. However this Medal commemorate 25 Years Enthronement. I have manage to get this medal from Bhutan (but the seller did not had the ribbon), so I choose to display it with a UK East & Central Africa Medal 1899 (better than nothing). For this reason I choose to show a photo of what shall look like the actual ribbon (actually actual ribbon shall be 1 or 2 millimeter wider, the yellow a bit more sandy and the red a bit more red than the ECA Ribbon). But better than nothing, it's a 97 % match. Despite repeated attempt to get the actual ribbon from ELM Singapore, I have never got a reply from them. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    19. I know the topic of the Medal of the Coronation of King Jigme Singye Wangchuk on 2 June 1974 had already discussed in a previous post by Ed. But maybe I can add some more information. First, no it's not the medal that belong to Ed Haynes, ribbon is same, but hooked a bit differently to the suspension ring. I agree with ED, this medal is not that rare, but when it comes to get it with its original ribbon and original suspension bar, then it's a very rare catch. In the late 1966 and 1970ies Bhutan already awarded some medals, but usually the quality of workmanship of the service award was poor. For the Coronation Medal of 1974, the quality is very good, and I believe the medal have been struck in England. In the 1990ies Royal Insignia of Singapore got the tender to modernise all the awards of Bhutan So they did it, and they also made a modern version of the 1974 Coronation Medal. However I never got photographic evidence that this medal was ever struck, and from conversation with ELM Team in 2005, they agreed that the last medal at right (modern version of the 1974 Coronation Medal was not approved by the King). Regards to all. Emmanuel
    20. It is not an Order, but part of the new series of awards instituted by King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk. They were presented for the first time in 2012. The Civil Service Awards seems to come in 4 Classes 1st Class Gold with enameled portrait of the king (for Life Time Achievement) 2nd Class Gold with portrait of the King (for 30 Years Dedicated Service) 3rd Class Silver with portrait of the King (for 20 Years Dedicated Service) 4th Class Bronze with portrait of the King (for 10 Years Dedicated Service). I borrowed the 1st photo from a previous post by Antonio Prieto , the 2nd photo comes from Royal Insignia ( the manufacturer of the award), the 3rd photo from Government of Bhutan web site (link below), the 4th photo from Government of Bhutan web site (from an award ceremony on 16 December 2016). http://www.gasa.gov.bt/news/royal-civil-service-awards Regards to all. Emmanuel
    21. The Order of Kalantiao, is a much less known award of the Philippines. But it is not a State Award. It is a fraternal order from the Central Philippine University College of Law Sadly I never have had the occasion to see one with my own eyes. Regards. Emmanuel
    22. Here is the 2nd Class of the Royal Family Order of Bhutan, It came from a London auction in May 2002, made by Spink. I cannot found the photo of the case, but believe me, it inscribed on the lid : Royal Family Order of Bhutan 2nd Class. Ed borrowed the photo, long long time ago. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    23. Here is the 2nd highest ranking Civil Awards of the Philippines, the Order of Lakandula, which ranks just below the Quezon Service Cross. The Order of Lakandula was instituted on 19 September 2003 in 6 Classes. It is awarded for political and civic merit, in memory of King Lankandula's dedication to the responsibilities of leadership, prudence, fortitude, courage and resolve in the service of one's people. Hilary Clinton, and Prince Felipe of Spain (who is now King Felipe VI) were awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Lakandula. King Juan Carlos of Spain, Emperor Akhi Hito of Japan, and President Teodoro Obiang Nguema from Equatorial Guinea were awarded the Grand Collar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_Lakandula It is very hard to get. The collar is not mine..... I catch the Commander in a London auction, and the Member badge in Manila. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    24. With all these changes, we now, not know if the Royal Family Order of Bhutan, instituted in 1966 by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk (the grand father of the current King) in 3 Classes is still awarded, or if it now obsolete. Here a 1st Class set, made by Spink. Regards to all. Emmanuel
    25. Still in 2008, King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk, instituted the National Order of Merit as the lowest award to Druk Khorlo. The National Order of Merit comes in 3 Classes ( Gold, Silver & Bronze ). On www.royalark.net you can see a gold version. To understand better this award, on 17 December 2016, the Nuns Foundation of Bhutan was awarded the National Order of Merit Gold. Best regards to all. Emmanuel
