    1. It's definitely an interesting badge. I've not seen anything like it on any online auction or sale site. And the crown doesn't look like the King's Crown. Is that Gaelic on the scroll?
    2. Looking at the location of the photo, I wonder if this is where the phrase, "sh*t runs downhill" originated?
    3. Berlin Neue Wache circa 1912
    4. Photos of German graves are common...post your's Less common are funerals... Here is a photo of an officer's funeral procession. I haven't been able to figure out who...
    5. Here's just a pretty nurse... Lots of details. Note the RK band on her hat, the HS badge - which I believe is related to the Vaterlandischer Frauen-Verein (I've seen a similar badge for sale and that was the seller's description), and the Prussian Red Cross Medal ribbon.
    6. Battle at the Masurian Lakes; Eastern Front. Present day Poland.
    7. Soldiers are the same ... any time, any place, any Army. Babes...
    8. Soldat Paul sent this photo of himself as a memento to his darling sister; his ribbon looks like a Württemberg Militär-Verdienstmedaille to me... Agree / disagree?
    9. You must be a printer! Blaming the poor grieving family. I bet you didn't give a refund either. Of course, you are correct; the mistake could have been the family's as well. Bottom-line, it had to be a mistake.
    10. I posted one of these 1930s vintage Eckstein-Halpaus Dresden cigarette cards in the Artillerie thread; here are two more with cavalry themes. Anyone else have some of these cigarette cards?
    11. Thanks, Hardy! One of these days we're going to get something interesting rather than the "usual" - I hope!
    12. Unfortunately, Reservist Christian Eyrich of the Infanterie-Regiment König Wilhelm I (6. Württembergisches) Nr.124 was one of the first casualties of the war on 24 Aug 1914 and didn't have a chance to win any awards for Württemberg; KIA just north of Verdun.
    13. At one time, I thought Württemberg would be my collecting focus; I picked up these sterbebilder a few years ago. This first one is quite curious. Serg. Josef Zehetmaier's card states he was awarded the EK2 and the Wuertt. Verdienst Ordern. But I though the Württemberg Verdienst Orden was for officers - with less than 4000 awarded in all grades. So, how did this sergeant get one? Perhaps the printer made a mistake; if we look at his ribbons in the photo, it looks more like a Bavarian Militär-Verdienstkreuz ribbon. The printer being confused since Zehetmaier was in the Württemberg Resv. Infantrie-Regiment Nr. 119. What do you all think?
    14. I've had this photo of an unteroffizier from an unknown regiment for some time; it looks like he's wearing two button hole ribbons. One must be the EK2, but I can't identify the second one...or maybe it's just an EK2 ribbon twice through the button hole. Any assistance appreciated. I also posted the reverse of the card; maybe some clues in the writing - which I can't read too well.
    15. One of my best photos of the EK2 in the buttonhole.
