    1. There was both a I. Matrosen-Artillerie-Abteilung and a I. Matrosen-Artillerie-Regiment I think I see a B in the last part of the name... Maybe our Marine experts can help...
    2. Gunner of the Kaiserliche Marine Matrosen Artillerie. Can't quite make out which numbered Abteilung...
    3. Not much on the internet about the site. I did find a bit: "Artillerie Fliegerschule Ost II at Doblen from 26.03.1917" Since it was established in March 1917 and the Eastern Front was concluded in Nov/Dec 1917, it very well could have been a temporary field strip. As far as I can tell, there were only two other Artillerie Fliegerschule; Alt-Autz (also in Latvia) and one in Bayern at Grafenwöhr
    4. Artillery has exceptional skill...no need for luck.
    5. You know Kornel, you are probably right. Litzen hidden by mantel. I have no idea why I said Landwehr! The card was printed in Berlin; Robert wrote a long note
    6. Hufschmied of Munitions Kolonne 934 We've discussed this fellow before on GMIC...http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/41133-total-total-total-confusion/?hl=munitions#entry380548 (and I won the auction shortly after the discussion... )
    7. Andy, thanks! Any idea about this regiment's purpose? Replacements?
    8. Here is a Landwehr Unteroffizier, but his shoulder strap is unknown to me...and I couldn't find an example in my meager references; looks like a "L" ... Landwehr? Luftshiffer" Chip will know, I'm sure...
    9. Not specifically a kaserne shot, but this card of Doblen village is one of my interesting ones (to me) - it has the stempel of ArtillerieFliegerSchule II. in Doblen
    10. Funny you should start this thread yesterday because I've been researching this card for a day or two... Despite being a somewhat antiquated piece, the German artillery appreciated the range capabilities of the French de Bange Canon de 155 L Modele 1877 and turned captured guns on their former owners. This looks like a crew of Bavarian Fuss-Artillerie. Card is dated Lille June 1915.
    11. Thanks, Bernhard! I got Lille, but for some reason I was reading "ubung" instead of "ueber"... I appreciate the help.
    12. I miss mushroom picking season in Europe. But my wife made some phenomanal mushroom ravioli with a dried wild mushroom and sage butter sause last night. Finished the remainder for breakfast. ;-)

    13. I've posted this over in the Imperial German section, but since it's a French gun, I thought I'd start an artillery thread here... I've more to add later. This one is a breech view of a de Bange Canon de 155 L modèle 1877. Although a bit antiquated, this gun was in widespread use by the French at the beginning of the war and modified in 1916 for further service. This one was captured and in use with Bavarian Fuss-Artillerie, a common occurrence since the Germans respected the gun's range.
    14. Despite being a somewhat antiquated piece, the German artillery appreciated the range capabilities of the French de Bange Canon de 155 L Modele 1877 and turned captured guns on their former owners. This looks like a crew of Bavarian Fuss-Artillerie (note what appear to be MVK ribbons). Any help with the reverse writing appreciated... (Cross posted to France forum)
    15. A few more hard looking Bavarians... Fuss-Artillerie or Munitions Kolonne
    16. He transferred to the mortars after this photo...
    17. 21 cm Mörser M16 (21 cm Mrs 16), or langer 21 cm Mörser
    18. Here's a Bavarian Gunner ... the Swedish cuffs suggest Feld-Artillerie; however, the back of the card has the stempel for Bayr. Fussartillerie-Garnisons-Batterie Nr. 6. Quite possibe and even likely, but I just find it odd that Feld-Artillerie Gunner finds himself in a Fuss-Artillerie unit. Regardless, it's a nice shot of the MVK3X
    19. Bavarian Fuss-Artillerie with a 21cm Morser. I say they are Bavarians because two of them appear to be wearing a MVK ribbon; the kanonier on the front left has his MVK ribbon over a EK2 ribbon; the NCO second from right has only a MVK ribbon.
