    1. Two additional classic examples for Taras collection. Egyptian Order of the Republic vs. Yemeni Order of Mareb (Marib).
    2. Badge plate close up (Lemaitre had moved from 346 Rue Saint-Honore in late 1870’s, therefore, this set of insignia dates no later than mid 1870s )
    3. Badge obverse (amazing enamel work – pay special attention to the grass!)
    4. And to top it off this extra rare and beautiful 1st class (military division with red rays) set from Lemaitre, Paris. Overview
    5. Now some eccentric looking lions Melancholic and well-groomed lion Obverse
    6. Additional examples of LSOs without personalized sun. Persian early (actually very early ) sash badge
    7. Not that unusual practice for small private European workshops (for another example see post # I29 ) Instead of rosette we have something that looks like tie knot And of course strange looking brand new moire for 130+ years old unboxed (!) specimen Cheers, Nick
    8. At last! Auction house that give it to you straight - STRASS-stones! Others harp on the same tune: diamonds of the first water, huge emeralds ... Dive in, everybody! This clumsy, nouveau riche type lion and sun sash badge has amazing enamel work! Cheers, Nick

    10. Hi Mickey, terrible and (at the same time ) exiting news! I never saw or heard about faked 2600 (kinda strange choice ) and rehabilitation (a little bit more justified choice) medals! It will be really nice to see them. Cheers, Nick
    11. Well I think that this “red” badge is higher class of merit badge. Two additional kanji (on top of right column) means Special. So Merit badge with red enamel must be Special Merit badge Cheers, Nick
