    1. I normally avoid 1 piece EKs like the plague but, I came across this one several years ago and it intersted me enough to buy it. The detail and quality of the screwback is very good and the age and wear looks honest. The cross is made from some kind of white metal with the center painted black. I have not seen another exactly like it since so, I don't think it is a widely made copy. Have any of you run into a similar piece?
    2. One of my favorites, even though he is an untraceable enlisted man. The 1st award is the 1st type MVK (silver with gold centers) and not the order. The swords were not actually added until the 1890's. The campaign bars are the standard II BAK combo.
    3. It is a combatant medal. I agree that it is odd not to have a LS award on there somewhere. With the War Service Medal, he apparently saw some action.
    4. I expect that this guy was getting a little long in the tooth by the time he served in China.
    5. This one came from a dealer from South Africa at an OVMS show several years back.
    6. As far as I know the number awarded is unknowm but, it must have been very low. This grade was awarded to Obersts through Major Generals so, it probably went mostly to a few regimental and divisional commanders related to Reuss units.
    7. Looks like the WWI version of the Bulgarian Military Order for Bravery.
    8. The 1st Class, with swords. This is a wartime silver gilt piece. The ribbon is for a knight but, that's what was on it when I got it. It will have to do unless I luck up on the correct size.
    9. Many thanks! I've always suspected that this had a story. Now, I just need to find the full size bar.
    10. It appears to be but, it's hard to tell with miniatures. The standards were a lot looser.
    11. I'm new to the group and I thought I'd start with a set of miniatures I picked up at a show in Nashville many years ago. It's very good quality with an enameled 1870 EKII and the Albert Order appears to be real gold. But, I was particularly interested in the 1870 campaign bars. The combination of Spicheren/Vion.-Mars La Tour/Grav.-St. Privat/Beaumont/Sedan/Mont Valerien/Paris does not appear to comply with any of the standard unit combos that I am aware of. Any thoughts?
