    1. Any of you gents ever seen a Golden Kite miniature? They must exist, no?
    2. Any ideas on time frame of manufacture Nick?
    3. Glad you enjoyed it! Be sure to check out Rich Catalano's site too with the link he provided in that thread to others like this, the larger versions.
    4. I'm watching with great interest to see the final selling price for this piece! ANy bets??
    5. We are indeed pleased that you did not abandon us! :jumping:
    6. Nope! Would love to see it close up to get an idea of how it is constructed. A bit more than I want to pay though just to see that! ;)
    7. I really like the clasp and how it is attached to the suspension ring with the mini-link chains! Very nice!
    8. I can't even recall if there was an interior case picture in the auction, maybe? Oh well, too late now! I would certainly love to figure out just how post-war these are. 60s? 70s? 80s? I wonder if the intent was simply to replace missing cases for the "medal market" or to try to make cases for actual veterans/families that owned the medals, which I'm guessing would make them earlier post-war like 60s or 70s?
    9. Ohhhh, that't couldn't have been good for the bloke wearing that helmet....
    10. Sweet, Thanks Rich. I see on the larger ones on your site that the "I. Sato" was not included! Interesting thjat it'd be on the smaller one, not the larger one. Those larger ones certainly look more at home in their cases - this small one seems a bit lost! Thanks for pointing those out - I knew I should have checked your site first! Do you know which branch of the mint produced these?
    11. Hello Gents, Not exactly a medal, but a small medallion I thought you might enjoy: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/55260-world-war-one-peace-treaty-commemorative-medallion/
    12. Inside case lid - can't read the whole thing, my translator is asleep. But the case must have been made by, or the piece was obtained from Shoubidou Co., in Osaka. A complete translation would be helpful. Possibly the same Shoubidou that we associate with the "S"-marked Showa Enthronement medals. Speculation.
    13. Reverse - I'm not an expert on this, but I think that must be the Palace of Versailles? Not sure who the figure represents, assume that is a "peace" dove on there. I can not read the two large kanji - help! The smaller kanji seem to indicate "Mint Bureau" (ZOUHEIKYOKU).
    14. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this reads from right to left (top half) - "SEKAI SENEKI KOUWA KUNKI CHOUIN KINEN" - World War (One) Peace Treaty Commemoration". I suspect some of that might be off in the kanji reading. Bottom from right to left - "TAISHOU HACHINEN ROKUGATSU NIJYUUHACHI NICHI" - Taisho 8th Year (1919) 6th Month, 28th Day Bottom left corner - "I. Sato" - No idea who this is, assume the designer of the medallion? Anybody know more?
    15. This came in a large group of assorted buttons, badges, pins, and medals I got recently, all common stuff, but this was a pleasant surprise. No idea how common or uncommon it is. Appears to be a commemorative medallion, would love some more info if anybody has any. Dated June 28th, 1919 (Taisho 8) - the date of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Tarnishy and stainy, and the strike seems relatively shallow, but still pretty neat. I'm mostly medals, but I think I might hang on to this one!
    16. From a current auction, a bit more than I want to or can pay at this time, but cool! I've not seen one up until now. Not the greatest pictures, but......
    17. So, here's another one with a case with that "plain" hardware. This is a current Yahoo! Japan auction. I see no indication that the medal itself is fake or replica. I believe it is, would you guys agree that this is an authentic medal? If so, what period would you out this into, roughly WWII era? This type of case doesn't seem to be all that uncommon. Is the consensus indeed that these are post-war/modern replacements? I believe at least Nick believes so and I'm 99.999% in agreement, but anybody else have an opinion? Could these be perhaps a simpler version of the case introduced late into the war up until the abolishment? http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2012/post-6375-0-90854800-1343851262.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2012/post-6375-0-63899100-1343851275.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2012/post-6375-0-38020400-1343851277.jpg
    18. Pleasure! WIsh I could help on the mark, but I'm clueless on that.
    19. I'm not going to get into the middle of it, I've got my own opinions that can remain my own. Unfortunately, the whole thing has spiraled well out the realm of academics, and far from a useful conversation about pricing/value. This just isn't the place to hash this out any further.
    20. Come on guys. This simply isn't worth it. I'd recommend sucking it up, shaking hands, and try to not have any hard feelings. If you REALLY feel like pursuing this further, I'd recommend talking into the private arena. I can appreciate and understand where both of you are coming from, I'm not taking any sides, as I have purchased many items from the both of you and like both of you - but I don't think anybody is going to score any points with potential future buyers if you keep on like this. It's not professional or businesslike to continue this here.
