    1. Hi gents Here's one of the many cased examples that were produced during & post WW1. The nice thing about the cased EK2's is the wide diversity of designs and the pride that was shown in the actual presentation.
    2. Nice cross with one of the more uncommon Red cases
    3. Check out this thread... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36023
    4. Hi Greg Looks like your right damn it haha. I've just compared the core on my CD & it is the same!! Now I have to look for a BD again.. :banger:
    5. I agree Joe. No matter how you move the core in this R marked cross, it is just too big for the frame. There are 7 pinch points on this one. Anyone got 8 ?
    6. Hi gents Mass production isn't a perfect science and is reflected on some EK's. Whether from human or mechanical error these defects offer an interesting insight into the early mass manufacturing process. Are they Monday or Friday made, who knows, but they do offer another view of these interesting awards. Gentlemen, if you have any crosses with defects please post them here. Here is one of mine that is pretty interesting, a BD 800 unknown maker. It has been suggested that this might fall into the four piece construction category? Chris
    7. That JWS is a prize thanks for posting it. If you ever decide to give it a new home, I have space lol. It will be going to a fellow Canuck. I've just looked through your collection, very nice Chris
    8. Hi Nick Well, I know many people don't like to use WD40 but, it really does a good job of neutralizing rust and it doesn't harm the paint or patina. I just give it a good spray and let it soak for an hour, then wrap it in paper towel until all the oil inside the frame has leaked out and dried up. Cleaning is a matter of personal preference, some people like to leave their items untouched in their natural state. I just like to give them a chance to survive another hundred years, for our future brother collectors. lol
    9. Don't keep me hangin Steve, post that puppy for me. I've been unable to acquire this maker yet.
    10. That one is a little stunner Steve, nice detail on the crown & oaks.
    11. You are correct Micha. This case was a nice surprise, F.H. Haupt was only a retailer and not a producer, as far as i know, he probably purchased the crosses and packaged them with his own cases. The other possibility being that makers used his cases?? When you do start to collect cased EK2's remember me if you get doubles haha. Chris
    12. Hi Eric Very nice AWS pillowback you have there, I've been searching for one of these myself. Yours is in excellent condition, is that some of the frosting still present on the frame? The first time I saw one like this I thought it was post war or TR period made. Does anyone know if these pillowback were made after WW1? I read or heard.. that some owners would blunt the tip of their award pins, not sure if this is true or rumor. Chris
    13. Hi Gents I would like to share my favorite IAB maker with you, the unmarked JB&Co. A collecting buddy converted me to this maker and I've been hooked on them ever since because of the great detail. I believe there are 3 variations of this maker of which I've found two. This one has the scooped out rifle to the reverse and is slightly curved. Chris
    14. Hi gents Here's an IVI marked cross in a fire damaged case. The retailers name F.H. Haupt is still on the reverse.
    15. Hi gents Can anyone help me to I.D this maker mark. This is the only photo I have. Thanks, Chris
