Hi folks, this photo drives me crazy! Probabely you have seen it before... This bavarian guy (a noncombatant) is wearing a house-order 2nd class, house-order 3th class on his "Frackspange" and a NC-war merit cross Lippe-Detmold. This picture was taken in Munich, surely after 1918 (Kyffh?user-medal on the bar). I have no idea, who this man was...and there is no hint on him. Does anybody have additional hints? Best regards Roman

Hi Rick, may I introduce Wilhelm Hackemack from Detmold to you? I have some of his papers (incl. the WW2-"Wehrpass"), showing the entries "Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse" and Lippische Verdienstmedaille". Hackemack got the military merit medal Lippe-Detmold and I think your guys, too Please compare the wearing of the ribbon... @RaZpuTiN Very nice cross! It looks like silver guilted...a late cross from WW1, right? Best regards Solomon

Hi folks, here is a new interesting photo from Lippe.... Backwards you can find the words "Gauf?hrer Friedrich Pastor" Pastor is wearing the IC 1st class 1914, the (silver) wound-badge and on his ribbon-bar: -IC 2nd class 1914 -military merit medal Lippe-Detmold -war merit cross Lippe-Detmold Ooops, there is something else...he is wearing a Stahlhelmbund-badge and the "Bundesstern des Stahlhelmbundes" ("F?hrerstern"). There were only a few "Landesf?hrer" of the Stahlhelm-Bund, but I haven?t any information about Friedrich Pastor. Can anybody help me? Best regards Solomon

Oho, a Lippe-bar, that isn?t in my collection????? Very uncommon and interesting combination! I like it! BUT...the owner must not have been wounded at the front...this medal was not a real wound-award. Only between 1914 and the beginning of 1915 55 soldiers from the 55th regiment (7. Westfaelisches) got the medal for beeing wounded at the front...but they got the medal without swords on it. And he may served in another regiment, maybe 55th but all other are also possible. But it?s sure that the was from Lippe. His first award was the military merit medal...later he got the war merit cross. According to the statutes he had to return the medal, but he didn?t (as many other didn?t return it). Why he didn?t get the IC II 1914, I can?t say...this is the uncommon point on this bar. A really nice medalbar...quite hard to find. Best regards Solomon

Nice merit cross... But I still have problems in believing that her got an order from Brunswig...that makes no sense. What I can read in this medalbar, is a young WW1-fighter from Lippe (maybe born in 1890 or a bit later), getting first the military merit medal Lippe-Detmold, then the IC 2nd class and at the same time the war merit cross. He had to return the merit medal (see statutes), but was allowed to wear the ribbon. For long service he got the long service medal 9 years before the end of the war, and in 1934-35 he got the Hindenburg-cross, as every WW1-fighter did. But for what he got the last order? A wartime-merit? I have a third idea...what?s about the civil merit medal ("Paulinenmedaille") Lippe-Detmold ??? Best regards Solomon

Hello gents, this nice medalbar I got on ebay (maybe some of you saw it) ...and it makes me mad As you can see, the former owner got -iron cross 2nd class 1914 (marked with SM or WS) -war merit cross Lippe-Detmold -military merit medal (correctly returned after receiving the war merit cross) -long service medal for 9 years -Hindenburg cross - and....what????? The last ribbon looks like the ribbon for the house-order Lippe-Detmold, but it?s a bit different (the silver-thread in the golden stripes is missing). But which house-order he got, I can?t say. The following classes are possible: - silver merit cross of the house-order - house-order 4th class Div. A - house-order 4th class Div. A with swords But there is no chance to say which award it was Any other thoughts about it? Best regards Solomon

Hi folks, here is a nice ribbon-bar (old style) with an interesting owner. But without the name it?s impossible to identify... What can you see? -red eagle order 4th class -red cross medal Prussia 2nd class -long service medal -red cross medal Prussia 3th class -house order Lippe-Detmold 4th / 3th class What does it tell about the owner? Okay, it?s a non-combatant from Lippe, surely a doctor.... And who was it? Prof. Dr. Ing. August Borchard, born in Lemgo/Lippe on 4th July 1864 (died in 1940). Borchard was "Medizinalrat" and "Generaloberarzt" in Berlin and a famous surgeon. He wrote the book "Lehrbuch der Kriegschirugie" in 1917, a famous book. ("textbook of the war-surgery"). Okay, that sounds quite interesting...but now a rarity: Borchard got the LDH4a in 1908. In 1913 he got the officer?s cross Lippe-Detmold (the former 3th class) But in 1918 he got the officer?s cross with swords!!! I?m quite sure, that he got the swords for his book, helping doctors in the field-lazareth. I?m sorry...I only got his ribbon-bar...I have no idea, if these very nice crosses still exist... Hope you like it, too.... Best regards Solomon

Uaaaah...are you kidding?....too easy for me! Okay, what you can see??? A 1870-71 fighter from Lippe, not active in WW1. He got the SVK Lippe-Detmold for 1870 / 71. The GVK is a very late one...looks like Zimmermann made it... The clasps are the hint...this guy served in the 7th "J?ger-Bataillon" (6.8.70 Spichern , 14.8.70 Colombey-Nouilly, 18.8.70 Gravelotte-St.Privat , 19.8.-2.10. Metz) And his name???? August M?ller, F?rster zu Kreuztrup - No. 468 of the 1897-list The AO Saxony he surely got as "Lakai", hunting-assistant in the forrests of Lippe. Any doubts? Best regards Roman

And while Rick is busy, Wildcard?s nice medalbar is driving me crazy I?m down to only two possible owners, one was born in 1872 (a kitchen assistant / "K?chen-Kalefaktor"), the other man was born in 1861 (a smith / "Hof-Schmied"). But I?ll wait till Rick finished the cross-check...maybe he?ll find a third possibility

Uuuuups, I have to empty my box...or I need more space for even more messages.... There is a small, very small problem to ID this returned medalbar.... I almost finished retyping the 1897-list (actually 900 of 1023 persons)...but, the cross-check with about 20,000 signed receipts of the LKr is an impossible job!!! The combatants are mixed with the non-combatants... The only chance are the receipts of the KVM (about 1.200), begging that he got it very late and all other awards are listed. Why isn?t there an 1905-medal on it...that would be easy!!!!! Best regards Roman
