I will have to look it up...shouldn´t be difficult to find out.
I also assume that it was connected to a Kaisermanöver...
Prince Franz von Bayern became a house-order 1st class Lippe-Detmold on 20th November 1909....maybe this was somehow connected.
Edit:
There were some fitting additional awards on that day:
Stefan Reichlin von Meldegg, Adjudant of Prince Franz von Bayern received a house-order 4th class
Maximilian Zeller, Generalmajor of the Königl. Bayr. 2nd Kavallerie-Brigade got a 2nd class with oakleaves
and additionally two people connected to the kingdom Saxony got awarded, too.0 -
Here is a medalbar, which fits perfectly to this topic...
Ferdinand Metzte´s medalbar I introduced in detail here

Oldwig Otto Wilhelm Gneomar v. Natzmer (1904-1980) was a Heer Generalleutnant. I don't know of a Luftwaffe general. DeZeng and Stankey have a Luftwaffe Oberst Gneomar v. Natzmer in their Luftwaffe officer list, but I don't know which Gneomar he was.
Hi Dave,
according to the name, this should be the son of the Flügeladjudant Lippe-Detmold Oldwig von Natzmer.

Correct, mea culpa...he wrote u.s.w. ...but at the end the message is the same ?

Haha, good question...I checked his receipt for the Lippe-Detmold house order 2ns class with swords at the ring,
which he awarded on 30th May 1918....Oldwig von Natzmer was a quite lazy guy and listed under "other awards"
just these three (quite strange) awards:
-Kriegsverdienstkreuz
-LD HO X (Lippe-Detmold house order with swords ???. class)
-Kriegsverdienstkreuz (which one???)
I also have another picture of him (see screenshot), but on the picture there is no award visible.
I´m quite sure, von Natzmer received am EK 1st class, but I have no proof for it.
Aaaah, the entry LD HO X must be Lippe-Detmold officer´s cross with swords, which he received on 17th Febraury 1917.
A look on his receipt for the officer´s cross with swords didn´t provide any additional information.
Von Natzmer was quite lazy to list all of his awards...he just listed:
- EK 2 = iron cross 2nd class
- Fürstl. Lippisches Kriegsverdienstkreuz
- R.A. 4 = red eagle order 4th class
- Fürstl. Lipp. Kriegsverdienstkreuz (???)
- u.v.m ( = and many more)

Good question, unfortunately there is no date marked on the back of this picture.
I will check again, when I´m back home....maybe I will find some additional information in my books.
By the way, the 2nd person person on the left side of the Fürst (you just can see his head in the background)
is Oldwig von Natzmer, Leopold´s Flügeladjudant...I have his ribbonbar in my collection ?

I went again through all the photos and I discovered a phote from around 1936, on which I see three hanseatic crosses
in the middle of his medalbar, not previously mentioned...So I would like to add to Leopold IV.´s awards as well
Lübeck HanseatenkreuzBremen Hanseatenkreuz
Hamburg Hanseatenkreuz
Do you agree?

Roman identified the star in picture 1: "Mecklenburg-Strelitz order of the Wendish crown breast-star", which of course, as I have shown, it is not. Before this gets too complicated, and I am sure Roman well agree, his "1st picture from 1897" shows:
Lippischer Hausorden, Ehrenkreuz I. Klasse (LDH1)
Herzoglich Sachsen-Ernestinischer Hausorden, Großkreuz (HSH1)
Albrechtsorden, Großkreuz (SA1)
Zentenarmedaille, 1897
Yes, I confirm...by the way I also have a photo (and it is the only one out of the 120 I have), showing Prince Leopold IV.
wearing a minature-chain from around 1899.
Unfortunately the angle from which the photo was taken, doesn´t allow a identification of the miniatures, but I´m quite sure, it isn´t the chain, offered actually by Weitze.

Regarding the Johanniter-order, I have another very rare and interesting photo of Leopold IV.´s father,
Grafregent Ernst zur Lippe-Biesterfeld...enjoy!
BTW, in your list one order is missing: Lippe-Detmold Goldene Verdienstmedaille, which he is wearing at the medalbar.

One more small question, for picture #3 you write "Lippe-Detmold Leopold order owner´s cross" ... what exactly does that mean? Could you please translate in German?
I didn´t know the exact English translation for "Lippe-Detmold Leopoldorden Inhaberkreuz" ...
Quite strange, that he was wearing it beside the 2nd class of the Leopold order...
There is one very interesting point on the cross, he is wearing.
According to the photo he was wearing a "Spangenstück" instead of the official awarded version, as shown below ?
Regarding the Sachsen-Ernestinischer Hausorden Bruststern, I found in my collection another, better photo from 1902.
At that time (not ruling yet the principality Lippe-Detmold) he was already wearing the SEHO breast-star and Albrecht-order...

My guess for the breast stars:
Hungary, Order of St. Stephen
Austria, Order of Leopold (also on the sash)Thanks for the identification...that fits!

No, the painting is still in the castle...no idea, why the rest was sold.
I only know, who was involved in the selling...
Anyhow, let´s dive into Leopold IV.´s orders:
1st picture from 1897:
He is wearing
Lippe-Detmold house-order 1st class
Prussia Centenar-medal 1897
Mecklenburg-Strelitz order of the Wendish crown breast-star
Saxony Albrecht-order breast-star
2nd picture from 1905 (I will only list, what was not previously mentioned):
Lippe-Detmold grand cross set of the ruling Prince (breast-star)
Lippe-Detmold house-order 3rd class
Lippe-Detmold memorial medal 1897 (Erinnerungsmedaille an den Einzug des Grafregenten Ernst 1897)

Uuuuuh, the perfect topic for me, as I have actually more than 120 different photos of Prince Leopold IV. in my collection....from 1899 until 1949.
Let me look through all these pictures and see what´s missing.
At least the Waldeck house-order 1st class is missing. I only have one picture, on which he is wearing it.
Unfortunately I also don´t have the award-dates for the "foreign" orders, like Waldeck, Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
And even more anoying...in the meantime all these breast stars and orders were sold by the actual Prince.
10 years ago, these orders were still in the Detmold castle.

I thought I would revive this topic with this little mini chain. The center award appears to be a 2nd Type Leopold Order, 3rd Class. The Red Eagle 4th is not unusual but, the Russian 1904/05 Red Cross medal is. With so few of the Leopolds awarded and the unusual Russian connection, is an ID possible?
That was rather easy, as the Leopoldorden 3rd class was not often awarded.
I´m pretty sure it belongs to
Semjon Lipliawsky, Dr.med Prof., Head of the Russian Institute in Berlin, born in Wiatka, Russia on 24th April 1874.
He got the Leopoldorden 3rd class Lippe-Detmold on 27th December 1912.At that time he didn´t have any other award (or he forgot to state them on his receipt).
By the way, very nice miniature chain....:-)

Lippe war merit cross non combat

Around 1.116 crosses "am Band für Heimatverdienste" (white ribbon) are correct.
Below you will find two additional examples and a miniature-chain, for sure also with a cross for non-combatants.
Does anyone have the according award document? I´m still looking for one, somehow they do not appear on the market.
