    1. Under UV the entire olive backing lights up so clearly not wartime. Funny that the white stitching does not glow obviously. Any comments>
    2. Hi all. I am sure I will have more luck getting information here than, urm, somewhere else. I got this patch yesterday. Now to my untrained eye it looked good enough to be WWII. The olive backing, the weave, the white bobbin thread on the back. But have had a comment or two that it is post war. Can someone here please tell me what sets it apart and if not WWII what age does this item belong to? I am yet to do UV tests on it.
    3. Can't help with the text translation but I would say that I consider that to be a very desirable piece you have there
    4. I really do hope so.
    5. You do manage to find the really high quality ones, Dieter.
    6. Please tell me they all went to the same person and did not get split up! If I am to have any sleep tonight! Even if you have to lie...ok just kidding on the last.
    7. Thanks Paul. OK so this one is a solid investment. Puts its rarity into perspective as well. Are these faked yet?
    8. Thanks Paul. Must saw with the history this represents I really find this piece extremely collectable. If I may ask, what would be a fair selling price for this?
    9. Thanks for the info Paul. That is quite a solid investment. But what a classy item they have created for it.
    10. This set of of medals are so beautiful together. Great acquisition Dieter!! Glad they fell into your hands as I know how you treat your babies!!! Paul, what is the award criteria for these?
    11. I love these. Definitely will be looking out for one myself. Lovely item, Dieter.
    12. Hi Paul, what does the inscriptions on the rear of the medal and on the lid of case say?
    13. This is a lovely item. Sad to hear such a nice collection will be split up.
    14. What was the significance of the difference sizes?
    15. These are exceptional awards to me. It really manages to capture the purpose of the award for me and has this feel of honour to it. Love it. Now that I look at it closely, is that damage to the enamel at the bottom or was it made like that?
    16. Another beautiful red cross item I have not seen before. Thanks so much for showing.
    17. Oh my goodness. If these swords still exist with a solid paper trail they would be something indeed!
    18. Interesting! Keep us up to date!
    19. Now THAT is what I call natural selection....
    20. The difference between touching and handling a sword... Heard this horror story from a collector friend of mine. Don't know where the show was, but, as you know, the swords are usually shown without the mekugi in place so that the tang can easily be shown to would be buyers. Well here comes this NFG (new f$#@## guy), picks up an antique sword and swings this. Ancient blade went through the window, two storeys down... :banger:
    21. Dieter, you are a collector with the heart of a historian
    22. Thanks Dieter, will be very helpful! Yeah, how often do you see, even on high end forums, items being held in a sweaty palm om the photos. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING??!!! And you always hear the excuse of "Well they survived this long OK". In a few decades the results will become clear and the items that have been handled like Dieter does his, will still survive as mint or near-mint examples. The others? Well.....
    23. Activated carbon is pretty inert, whilst baking soda is a weak base. Personally I would say if you can get it done with the carbon, score.
    24. That was great to read Dieter!! Always so nice to see someone going through trouble to keep history safe and well preserved!! And not just for pricey items, but simply because they represent history!! I would definitely be interested in contact details for vendors who would be willing to ship these materials worldwide.
