Paul, in the thread started "Gesellschaftsanzug mit fangschnur", I show this Officers Gala tunic, it is one of three uniforms I have obtained, direct from the Officer. That Officer is Hans-Jurgen Pohl who entered service in 1968 as a career Officer, and retired in 1993 after 25 years service as a "Oberstleutnant", he served most of his time in the Panzer arm..attached to "Panzerbrigade 8" garrisoned in Luneberg...he finished his service on the staff of the now defunct 1st Korps in Munster. Hans-Jurgen had followed his father Oberst Helmut Pohl, a decorated WW2 veteran, and former commander of Panzer Battalion 314 "Oldenburg" into service with the BW and like his father went into the Panzer arm.
I would imagine that the pre 1970 tunics were worn well into the 1970's and upon promotion, pips were added, there are traces on two his tunics, the Oberleutnant and his Majors, that an extra pip was there ! why they were removed I have no idea ! I will when time allows, post his Majors tunic and his fathers Panzer combination, together with its history.
I show a photograph of his last posting, the HQ of 1st Korps in Munster, still there today, but know HQ of the German/Nederland Korps.
Prost ! Steve.
