Kingdom of Yugoslavia - Shoulder Boards
paja replied to paja's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Greetings gentlemen, I would like to try to revive this topic with "soft" M1939 infantry lieutenant colonel's shoulder boards (epoletuške). Could someone tell me what's the difference between "soft" and "hard" shoulder boards? My thoughts on this are that maybe the soft type shoulder boards were for war (and everyday?) uniform (svakodnevna i pohodna uniforma) and that the hard shoulder boards were for parade uniform (svečana i praznična uniforma). According to the regulations from 1939 mundir with two rows of buttons (color depending on the color of the branch) as a part of parade uniform was back but those parade uniform round epaulettes were no longer in use. Cockade was replaced with two-headed eagle emblem. Shoulder boards for cavalry, engineering and medical officers were silver with golden stars, everyone else had golden shoulder boards with silver stars (check out the table in post #72, and also lightfoot's shoulder boards in post #37). http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2013/post-7937-0-26170200-1366716534.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2013/post-7937-0-13783300-1366716552.jpg -

Thanks Paul, even though there are a lot of museums in Serbia most of their websites are unfortunately either obsolete or very poor when it comes to presentation. Whatever I manage to find I'll put here. -

Those Yugoslav M51 submachine guns (cal 7.62mm), also known as Matić-Cvetić prototypes, were made especially for the Day of the Army (22. December) in a very limited number and were given to high officials, Tito's generals. I have read somewhere that the name of the receiver was inscribed on every piece. Last year I was able to see in person and take a picture of the piece that used to belong to General Koča Popović. -
You are welcome. The box looks great, nice catch!

Greetings Obi, It looks like the box is for the Order of the Cross of Takovo, 4th grade. Just for comparison: http://www.emedals.com/collectors-gallery/europe/serbia/orders/order-of-takovo/case-order-of-takovo-2 Regards, Radmilo

Unidentified What is this Badge?
paja replied to Stogieman's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
You are welcome. That's organisation's official badge. SUBNOR (Federation of Associations of Veterans of the National Liberation War is maybe the best translation) was formed couple of years after the war as a, among other things, political organisation that would gather members of the partisan movement. SUBNOR still exists today http://www.subnor.org.rs/ Best regards, Radmilo -
