    1. Uncertain if a special visitor viewing can be arranged. Prior written request can't hurt. Especially if your doing "research'.. Can't recall if there are any Japanese matchlocks on display. Certainly nothing bolt action
    2. I'd guesstimate that only 50% of the museums holdings are on display at any given moment. We have an amazing collection of Japanese art & in equally astounding collection of Japanese weapons in our Arms & Armor section. If anyone wants to come for a visit & a tour PM me
    3. Great presentation Nick! Would all these awards & badges have been manufactured in Japan?
    4. Nick I work at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art! Come for a visit
    5. true type 45 when issued had red piping on sleeve cuff. This was later removed in the field
    6. I'd say it"s actually non military WW2. Either a veterans, civic or school related. Translation will tell
    7. I can't tell you much more then you already know. It's a WW2 kaigunto navy sword with protective leather saya(scabbard) cover. The blade MIGHT be an older blade. Are there any stamps on tang like an anchor or? If you PM me detailed, clear pics of blade signature I might be able to help find out the makers name & age of blade
    8. Great presentation! How were you able to find & purchase such a rare set? Any good stories ?
    9. Haven't seen one of these before & I had to have it because it's navy http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-WWII-JAPANESE-NAVY-SAILOR-KILLED-IN-ACTION-BEREAVEMENT-MEDAL-BADGE-DOCUMENT-/310540202846?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&nma=true&si=7gMsX6u%2F2jMMzXFdocz9%2BDPFj6k%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
    10. I agree! I'm shocked at the bargain price BUT not surprised. Tough economic times & too close to holidays. The breast badge is one of the only medals I've dreamnt of owning. An iconic medal
    11. How'd this one look? Anyone get it ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/JAPANESE-ORDER-OF-THE-CHRYSANTHEMUM-VERY-SCARCE-HIGHEST-ORDER-/181036703932?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=K7T%2BKuRXf%2FcPXop5JxadpvAtTsE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

      Golden Kite Locket

I'm really bad at downsizing photos so I couldn't post eBay pics
    18. I won this today. Appears to be a navy sweethearts locket with Golden Kite on top. Likely hanging loop is missing. Box is incorrect too. I collect navy/SNLF items so this spoke to me.http://www.ebay.com/itm/120956561844?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
    19. Looks like an early torpedo to me. Perhaps kind that was ship board tube launched?
    20. Seems like a bargain. Why didn't you buy it? Guess many feel if it's too good to be true it usually is
