......... the interesting capture on the back --- " Wollte sie in die Wälder ? " -- " Did she wanted to go in the woods ? " Should this be the presumption of an escape ?? This one I believe is Maria Paetz, note the gun she is wearing, but which probably belonged to the car driver and she only kept it from him, while he was repairing the car. But why not keep it in the car ? Was it not safe ? On the last photo Maria held some newspapers, which she is now distributing to russian workers, photo is captured " 1.5.43 Maifeier Roslawl " ...........

Hello Gentlemen, a happy new Year to all of You. Let me show you my latest photo find, a group of about 40 photos that I bought for low money on a little postcards, stamps & coins show here in bavaria today. The reason why I post them here and not in the Photo Collectors corner, is that there are coming up some questions with them. The group belonged to a german woman ( probably her name was Maria Paetz, cause this name is more often to find on the back ) who had something to do with administration in the Ukraine, maybe she was an interpreter ? Some photos show russian women in the POA, female volonteers, to that day I didn't even know that they existed. Let's see some photos: The girl with the white vest is Oberleutnant Wera Charitonowa, a parachutist as well. Yet another photo of her ...............

8.) Finally the Arbeitsf?hrer with the SS officer's buckle that I posted already Just a presumption - in the years before 1934, you see a lot of photos of FAD men with single or double claw buckles. Maybe those who were already members of other organisation such as Stahlhelmbund or SA, were allowed to wear their buckles with the FAD service dress ??? Kind regards Robert

Bought this photo yesterday on my local fleamarket as I found it interesting. It shows a blind soldier, note the armband with three black dots and the iron cross, which stands for soldiers blinded by war. He is a well decorated NCO-rank with IC 1st class, general assault badge and for sure a golden wound badge. I can not make out what decoration he wears above the others, it looks like a war merit cross, but smaller and the way it is pinned to his uniform is rather strange. Anybody seen that before ? Kind regards Robert

Austria-Hungary Austrian or italian Luftwaffe
Robert Noss replied to Robert Noss's topic in Austro-Hungarian Empire
Thanks a lot for the infos. I think it is him, not only the face is recognizable, but also tunic, goggles, medals, collar patches. And the fact that he has shot down 3 of these planes, I would say that's 98 % ! Good work. Thanks. Robert -

Hello to all, I have a question about this armbadge Somewhere I have read that this is for chemical troops, Anti-Gas or something like that. But I am not sure, that's why I ask here. The man at the left is wearing a badge too, maybe the same, but it is not clear to see He is also wearing a belt buckle with a star ? Garde ? Any comments are most welcome, as always Kind regards Robert

Hmmm. While I would not trust a website made by non-germans about WW 2 awards, I found out that the spelling KURD is north german, used in an area called "Niederelbegebiet" and does actually mean the first-name CORD. Okay, new for me. Haven't heard that first-name so far. I can not say much about the doc itself, it looks good to me. Spelling of german names, places, units etc. is always the first thing I am looking at. Many docs from outer-germany have spelling errors like KREIGSMARINE instead of KRIEGSMARINE, FUHRER instead of F?HRER. So Kurd seems correct, okay. Kint regarts Roberd

My opinion - the document is a fake. As You can see on the photo, his first-name is KURT. On the award doc KURT is written KURD - in german language there is no first-name written KURD. In my opinion on such a high level document a typing error would not have been accepted by anyone. Kurt Peters would have refused to take the document and the soldier who made the error would have had a nice week cleaning toilets. Kind regards Robert
