Romania - Post Communist WW2 Veterans badge
Kev in Deva replied to Kev in Deva's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Hallo Rick, this one, Post Communist fits the bill for the period of Service for Romanians in WW2. There is also another medal commemorating the day they went over to the Russians, the so called 23 August Medal. Kevin in Deva. -
Hallo Gents I picked up these 7 badges at the Collectors Fair in Deva today 23 June 2007. I am presuming they are from the Communist period but if I am mistaken please feel free to move to the corect area of the site. Larger pictures of the individual badges to follow, they are made of aluminum. Kevin in Deva.

Around the circunfrence, a Slogan in Cyrilic. Diameter: 31 mm, Horizontal broach fastening to rear. No Maker Marks. Kevin in Deva

Hallo Gentlemen, Must say I have to agree with Rick on these, I have seen both pin types, and slight variations in the returning defeated soldier motiff, which I put down to Maker variation rather than any attempt at faking. These were not officialy issued but, had to be purchased by the returned veterans from a veterans association. Kevin in Deva.

I was told it turns out to be a folding paper cup given to Officers in the Austrian and Prussian Army!! It measures approx: 11,2 cm Base width; 5,5 cm Width at the mouth: 10cm Its in remarkable condition for a card / paper item from 1914 - 15, aside from a piece of medical sticky tape top left and a couple of minute pin-holes!! Hallo Gents I think its safe to say steer well clear of this beauty: http://cgi.ebay.com/1813-Kulm-Iron-cross-f...1QQcmdZViewItem 1813 Kulm Iron cross first class (I think there was only one class so why he reffer's to it as a first class therefore implying there was more than one class is beyond me ) And you got to love the silver paint smears on the rear HIS DESCRIPTION: This is the ultra rare Kulm cross, issued by the Prussian Kingdome to Russian troops during the 1813 campaigns. The cross is manufactured from hammered iron and painted with a silvery boarder. Due to the simple manufacturing techniques, this cross is sold as a representative piece without provenance, however it is quite nice. HIS START PRICE: Starting bid: US $400.00 Kevin in Deva

Another type for sale on Ebay at the moment: http://mail.google.com/mail/?auth=DQAAAHgA...X4rMIBqaIENQOvQ Wishful thinking to see Rommels half-track near the pyramids Also from the same seller: Here is a gold one, just have to laugh at a 19914 dated Iron Cross topped off with oakleaves and swords This seller seems to be a Rommel fan!
