Poland Auschwitz Cross
Kev in Deva replied to bigjarofwasps's topic in Central & Eastern European States
One Auschwitz Cross up for grabs here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Auschwitz-Cross-Nazi...1QQcmdZViewItem in my opinion a very high price for a non-documented award, and hard to see if there is any detail on the Aushwitz Ribbon ring Picture with large brown table medal. He also is offering another with the mini at: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Auschwitz-Nazi-Conce...1QQcmdZViewItem Its easier to see the detail on this one. Kevin in Deva. -

REPUBLICIA SOCIALISTA ROMANIA / the Socialist Republic of Romania. 1965 - 1989. 30th Aniversary Medal of the Liberation from the Faschists. Close up of the front of the medal. Another point that must be noted with regard Romanian Medals and Insignia is the diverse groups that exsisted in the Country, alongside the Army, Airforce, Navy etc, were the Militias, Factory Guards, Securitate, Patriotic Guards etc.. REPUBLICIA SOCIALISTA ROMANIA / the Socialist Republic of Romania. 1965 - 1989. 50th Aniversary of the founding of the Romanian Communist Party with ribbon device 1921 - 1971 PCR (Communist Party of Romania). this falls into the cheap & nasty catagory, the front has a plastic cover under which the gold-gilt colour degrades to a very dark colour withtime. REPUBLICA POPULARA ROMINA MEDALIA ELIBERAREA DE SUB JUGUL FASCIST. Legitimatie By Decree nr. 325 on the 06 - 08 - 54. by President of the Adunari Nationale of the Popular Republic of Romania to Comrade Nejescu S. Aurel the decoration of the medal. "Liberation from under the Fascists." Signed for the Minister Armed Forces by General of the Army. ________________ As can be seen the award booklet was carried for many years hence the poor condition. It will be noticed some Romanian medals carry the Soviet style of medal bar and others a Romanian style which the ribbon backing plate tends to be more rectangular. Kevin in Deva. -

Hallo Gentlemen as a change from my normal posts I have decided to post some Romanian Communist Medals both Military and Civil, as time goes by I hope to add more. Romanian Communist Medals can be found marked with the letters: R. P. R. which stands for: REPUBLICIA POPULARA ROMINA / the Peoples Republic of Romania. 1947 - 1965. R. S. R. which stands for: REPUBLICIA SOCIALISTA ROMANIA / the Socialist Republic of Romania. 1965 - 1989. I obtained this medal on my second holiday visit to the town of Brad, Transylvania, Romania in 2001, it is for Military Service, upon closer examination of the medal box I discovered the soldier?s award card under the medal insert in the box. Funny thing is the soldier?s family name is Craciun which translates as Mr. Christmas! Socialist Republic of Romania. VIRTUTEA OSTASEASCA Medal, Class 1. / Soldierly Virtue I Class. Conferred by the State Council. Conferred by Decree Number. 717 on the 28. 07. 1967, On Comrade: Craciun P. Nicolae. Signed for the Minister of the Armed Forces. Gl. Colonel. __________________________ Signature. Kevin in Deva

Hallo Marcus, now you come to mention it, you might be right, with regards it being a Belgian type, I was relying on memory when I typed my post sometimes not the most reliable way to do things. Your cross is something like these pics: Kevin in Deva -

Hallo BJW the award is from POLAND to Polish and International Survivours of the camps, the P in red triangel I believe designates "Political" Prisoner. I have seen the medal attached to a Belgium medal bar, obviously very post WW2. It also comes with an award booklet. Kevin in Deva. -
Hallo Gentlemen nice Bavarian King Ludwig Crosses, Mine is pictured in the Collectors showcase and I add the link here: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7352&st=20 The large Cross has a reproduction ribbon , however the mini-cross is all original.
