Guest Rick Research Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 From the arrangement of his ribbon bar, probably a retired general.

Wild Card Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) Hi rboomsma,I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that there is a source. The two volume Encyclopedia of Heroes of the Soviet Union has pictures of virtually every recipient up to shortly before it was printed in 1988.The bad news is that you will be looking through a little over seventeen hundred pages with six pictures per page. To make matters worse, most pictures are pre 1950?s poor quality. Perhaps a nice project for those approaching long British Colombian winter nights?Actually, I faced a similar dilemma a few years ago involving a candid photo of an unidentified HSU general with the recipient of some medals in my collection. By chance one night while going through the encyclopedia, I spitted him - Colonel General Pavel Alekseevich Belov. I hope that you enjoy the same good luck; and, please, should you ever solve this mystery, let us know.Best wishes,Wild Card Edited August 15, 2006 by Wild Card
