stevo4361 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Hey guys, Would like to share my first Knight's Cross, a later (1970's?) 1957 version Ritterkreuz. With case and ribbon, and appears to be stamped 800 on the frame but I think this may be a "misadvertisement." Magnetic core and 3 piece construction. Quality isn't too bad, not a wartime cross by any means but OK. Any thoughts on a maker? Thanks guys, Kind Regards,Steve[attachmentid=52772][attachmentid=52773]
Ingsoc Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Not entirely sure about it but I think the shape of the oak leaves on the RK mean it's was made early after the war.
stevo4361 Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 Nevermind guys, seems this one is a fraud, with the L/12 on the frame ground off. Back to the search...Kind Regards,Steve
Grant Broadhurst Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Ingsoc has it the wrong way round this is the later core .Yep if it has the L/12 it,s a duffer , there,s a guy in Germany churning these out and stating they are Junker crosses .Here is an early cross core for comparison :
stevo4361 Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 Thanks Grant, So the leaves "falling inward" are the early cores, "bulging out" are the later cores?Kind Regards,Steve
Grant Broadhurst Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 The easiest way to tell at a glance is the thinner leaver and seperate acorns on the early 1st type core and the fat leaves and the acorns stuck to the leaves on the later 2nd type core .
Laurence Strong Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 On the second pattern the acorns are up higher on the stem closer to the leaves
stevo4361 Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 Thanks Grant and Laurence! Kind Regards,Steve
