Jacky Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 That sounds odd....If I'm correct, it is a communist era silver merit cross on a 1st world war chain??Sounds quite odd.kind regards,Jacky
--dj--Joe Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 (edited) Jacky, in my incomplete to this point, research. I have 1923 as the date of institution. 1918-1939 as the date of the II Republic . Revived in 1944, from 1952 on the central disc was changed to PRL.I have read it was awarded to foreigners, civilans and soldiers.--dj--Joe Edited October 23, 2006 by --dj--Joe
Jacky Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Uhmmm,Should be less thinking with my headache,I think you're right, I misunderstood the RP for something else!!PRL is indeed the communist thing and not RP.So It might be possible, forgive my ignorance and very very bad mistake.Jacky
Ulsterman Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 somebody living in Polish Silesia, either an ethnic German or a Pole, who served in the old Prussian army. It happened -a lot.In June, 1944, my Uncle ( a red hat) escourted a series of Wehrmacht POWs off the beach on to the ships. Most were young Poles and their sergeant was an old WW1 vet with a Kaiser Wilhelm moustache- and was also a Pole-or so he claimed.
--dj--Joe Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 (edited) Jacky, not a problem. Your question spurred me on to locate the dates.Ulsterman, thank you for the information.--dj--Joe Edited October 23, 2006 by --dj--Joe
