Gentlemen,

These two douments were sent to me by a young man I have helped and encouraged his interest in the ORS. Am I right to say that the Archive record document will make things MUCH easier for the researcher? Also, is the Russian document the same as the translated document?

as far as i can see, the translation is correct. This kind of research comes from the Russian MoD and is just a confirmation, that the Order was awarded and delivered to the awardee and a short version of the citation. The information on these is not so extensive like on the usual copies of the archive-documents, we get from our researcher. I have also one or two orders with this kind of research and its better than not researched at all.

Back when I started researching (just before this one was researched) this was all that you got from the archives. It wasn't until about 1998 or so when they actually started photocopying citations.
