ERIC Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Here's a Flak Badge with a 'W. Deumer L?denscheid' maker mark I came across. First repro Flak I've seen with the Deumer marking.ERIC
J Temple-West Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 It looks like they used a "W H" flak to make that one.
ERIC Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 It looks like they used a "W H" flak to make that one. Yeah John, I believe you're right - Modeled after the Walter Henlein Flak.ERIC
J Temple-West Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Arrr me hearty... be it Walter Henlein or W Hobacher. I never knows which it be. has ye an idea?Sorry my friend...I've just been playing Pirates with the kid. I'll be back to adult lingo tomorrow.
ERIC Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 Aye matey, I'm believin shes a Henlein! Avast - the Hobacher "WH's have the 'WEIN' beneath the letters, mostly found on the Heer Flaks, and most of these are considered by many as fake badges. The only WH in Austria was Hobacher. The WH's on the Flak badges always stand alone without the additional WEIN marking. These are without question real badges. So, unless the Hobacher firm made at least two dies (dies for real badges ), one each for Army and Luftwaffe Flaks, and marked one with WEIN and the other without (doubtful), my vote would go to Walter & Henlein, Gablonz, the only other possible "WH" maker known. I personally have always referred to these Flaks as Walter & Henlein produced. Hopefully Marc can add something here to steer us in the right direction. ERIC
