dond
a couple of more with different lighting. Is this an original and what time period are we looking at for manufacture?

Tom Y
I don't see any obvious problems with the core and frame, but the truncated hooks, 1914 style pin, and oddly paterned patination on the reverse would give me pause.
dond
I just found out it is nonmagnetic too.
DavidM
HelloI'm by no means an expert on these 1870 EKs, but I don't like this one. The pin is to me more reminiscent of the WW2 style of pin, and the cross seems to lack the overall quality of the very originals of these that I have seen.Just my opinion, but I don't think this a genuine, period piece. gregM
Here is a comparison between the the cross posted and one of my 1870 EK2s.Note how the beading at the very inner corners is a very close match. It is interesting that someone brought up WW2 quality. The 1870 EK2 that Icompared it to is the size of a 1939 EK and is presumably a ww2 era museumcopy. However it has also been called a "wideframe 1870" Edited February 10, 2007 by gregM
