Paul R
I have always wondered... were medics run through the basic marksmanship courses? Also, would they be eligible to be awarded the marksmanship lanyards?RegardsPaul

A medic must be able to defend himself and his patient. As for the lanyard I don't know. Doc

As for the lanyard I don't know. DocIt would make sense... but we know how strange the rules can be in this area(weapons/medics).The reason I ask is that I have a first pattern Marksmanship lanyard. If I can place it on my sani tunic, I will keep it... other wise I am thinking about selling it!RegardsPaul
luftguy
I have a copy of a photo of an Oberarzt wearing a Ground Assault badge, KVK ribbon and a EKII ribbon. He is also wearing what looks like a P38 pistol. A Marksmanship lanyand sure seems very possible to me!Bill
eddie
From what I understand, German medics were armed in order to protect themselves (which enraged quite a few British and US troops) and it isn't exactly a giant leap to think that at least one would have been interested in shooting pre-war and earned his marksmanship lanyard during the war.
