Chris Boonzaier Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Ruhmeshalle has them in the 1 bavarian Landwehr Division, but that seems to have been the 122 Landwehr I.R. So maybe it was a typo...Anyone know offhand where they served? (i.e. which division?)
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 OK, looking at the 7th Landwehr... the 122 RIR joined in feb 1917.251 Divisions says they came from the 54th reserve Division... but when you look up the 54th Teserve division... there is no mention of the 122 ever having been there.....The most elusive regt I have found to date !!!
Glenn J Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Chris,"Die W?rttemberger im Weltkriege" shows an order of battle of 7. Landwehr-Division in January 1917 with R.I.R. 122 present. The "Ehrenbuch des Gefallenen Stuttgarts 1914-1918" says that R.I.R. 122 initially served in the Prussian 183. Infanterie-Brigade, 183. Infanterie-Division respectively in the Champagne and Somme where it suffered heavily and for a short time with 54. Reserve-Division at Verdun.RegardsGlenn
Steve Russell Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Chris,My June 1917 German Infantry Regts and Field Post Offices Book also has them in the 52nd Landwehr Brigade of the 7th Landwehr Division. Steve
