Naval Visor Caps

Can anyone tell me whether officers visor caps always had a fixed blue top ? Did some have white tops - fixed or removable ? I am assuming that white tops would be for summer use and not indicative of any submarine connection as with Kriegsmarine caps ?.

You will find them with white tops as well, normally removable. It was purely for summer wear, there was no submarine connection as in Germnay.

Many thanks Paul. Its a bit of a departure from normal for me and only my second piece of Japanese headgear after a Sailors Cap I got last year.

Although the white top is grubby, the blue cap body is fine and it just needs the peak cleaned up a bit.

I take it the small tie tapes for fastening are typically Japanese ?

Interior markings. Below the larger darker characters are a set of smaller ones which are unfortunately way too faint to make out .

Take it from someone who wore a white top for 5 years.... a fixed white top is the pits.... I used to be very jealous of the guys in the old days who hade removable tops on their Kepis...

Beautiful visor cap. These are getting difficult to find in Japan in a decent condition, especially with the white tops.
