Kev in Deva Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) Hallo Chris, I picked up this picture in Brasov, Centeral Romania last week, its dated Cluj 1 IV 1927, (Cluj-Napoca) it shows a group of Romanian Soldiers with what I believe to be a Maxim, can you id it for sure??If it is a Maxim its probably a WW1, captured stock from either the Germans, Austrians or Bulgarians.Interestingly none of the soldiers sport any ribbons for WW1 service.Kevin in Deva. The three in front seem to have nice white shirts or scarves, They are all very smartly turned out in the picture.Kevin in Deva

I do not think that it is a simple snapshot, so I guess the people prepared in advance for the photo (this is why they seem freshly spruced up). But was it for a demonstration of the machine gun (with the occasion of an inspection maybe)? Was it only a martial memento of their war service?
Kev in Deva Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 The penned inscription on the rear of the card, with Maker Mark: Satrap on card.Maker Motif??Kevin in Deva
