Solomon Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Hello gents,these two nice pictures, I got from ebay:They show a "Gruppenf?hrer beim 1.Lazarethzug I. B.A.K. (=1st Bayrisches Armeekorps Munich)"1. This picture was taken on November, 14th of 1915
Solomon Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 A closer look on his medalbar, where you can find:-war merit cross Lippe-Detmold on combatant-ribbon (!!!)-House-Order Lippe Detmold. IV.class 2nd Division (!!!)-Prussia red cross medal 2nd class-Prussia red cross medal 3th class-Bavaria cross for "freiwillige Krankenpflege" with clasp "1914" on ribbon-unknown medal (long service medal ???)
Solomon Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 and the back of this picture:"Meinem lieben Schwager Erich M?llmann zur Erinnerung an den sch?nen unvergesslichen Tag meiner VerlobungJerxen, d. 14.November 1915Dein (???)Hermann SturhahnGruppenf?hrer beim 1. Lazarethzug I. B.A.K.Rick, do you have some more data from Hermann Sturhahn ?With 151 awards the LDHO IV b was not often awarded...Very interesting is, that he got the war merit cross with the combatant-ribbon...normally he had to award the IC 1914 2nd class before, I don?t know why it is missing!
Solomon Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 and the second picture...with ribbon-bar.It was taken in February 1917...the clasp "1914" can be clearly seen.GreetingsSolomon
Guest Rick Research Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 There must be a Roll for the Bavarian cross, but I don't have it.The last medal I believe is TURKISH.Of all the LDH4b recipients, the only one with a LISTED Red Cross-like affiliation would be my best guess--Hermann STURHAHN, Ingenieur in Heiden, born Heiden 1 January 1885.Received LDH4b #87 on 13 April 1913 asFreiwillige Krankenpfleger im Kriege auf dem Balkans. Wups, while I was typing, you posted number 3 and 4 above, spoiling the Miraculous No Name Identification! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Well, I got him with NO name anyway.

Thank you again...yes, it?s Hermann Sturhahn...your guess was right! It?s my first picture with the LDH4b...quite hard to find GreetingsSolomon

Guest Rick Research Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Hmmmm. Depends on what that 3rd one is-- Saxe-Weimar White Falcon- Knight 2nd X? Oldenburg House Order (backwards?), I don't find a match for either and the only other thing that blur MIGHT be would be a Hessian Philipp. Hmm.Show us the whole uniform. Maybe its's a SCHAUMBURG House order. It is so blurry, I can't be sure.

Guest Rick Research Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!1890: Hauptmann in 2. Garde Regiment zu FussFreiherr von ElmendorffLDH3 #108 on 18 April 1877 as SecLt in Inf Rgt 55.I did not have his awards noted because it says"zur?ck 10.12.1902 ?"He is not in the 1898 Rangliste, and obviously was dead before the end of 1902.That's the Oldenburg 3bX. BTW, I finished ALL the Ehrenkreuz classes today.

Reg. No. 55 B?low von Dennewitz) was the only regiment Detmold had...And the photo must be taken in 1888 (as printed on the back by the photograph)...really interesting!GreetingsSolomon
