Richard Gordon Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I always thought that there must be some relationship between the firms of Berg & Nolte and Assmann as their pilot badge eagles are strikingly similar. So I thought I'd get them out and do a comparison. I see now that there are certainly not the same eagle and the only general design is the same. Maybe the same artisan was used to make the dies for the 2 companies? It's not often these 2 get out so might as well post while here. What's your feeling? Do you see any evidence in their other badges that points to a relationship between the 2 companies?Rich
ERIC Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Hi Rich, No, I don't see any, other than they might have used the same artisan to do some of their die work. If you look at both firms Radio Operators / Air Gunner Badges, you'll see again a totally different wreath but a remarkably similar eagle on their buntmetall examples. Close, but definately not the same, just as their Pilot Badge eagles are when compared.ERIC
spectre Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I agree with you, the faces on the eagles are so close I have to look at the wreaths to know which is which. Very possible the same person did both the dies.Alan
