Battle dress

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1940 home guard battledress (BD) and trousers all badged up to an officer, with WW1 ribbons and 2x 1944 BD tunics and trousers to an RASC officer all badged up, all in good nick no moth, can anyone help me will current retail prices, many thanks, Paul

Here's one of mine.... 1949 pattern..... 1960 manufacture......

The label.

It has always baffled me how this very uncomfortable battle dress uniform was still being worn, let alone manufactured in 1960's!! One understands shortage in times of war but for anyone who wore this very "prickly" jacket, would know what I am on about.

Kev.... any chance that your regiment had these BDU's to go with the old pattern webbing?

Damian - welcome to GMIC. From the markings it would appear to be a tunic for a British or, Commonwealth unit. I have no idea which one - and

it certainly has an unusual cut and appearance. Could it have been tanks ? Again, you must hope that one of our uniform specialists will be

able to help you with more information.

Hello Damian,

this is a post-war Canadian-made BD blouse. These were sometimes dyed black for issue to PoW's or, since yours is dated 1951, to civilian workers for the British army in Germany - there were also Canadian units based in Germany in the British Zone.
