Italy - Unknown old Italian Medal Case.

Hallo Gents,

please take a look at the pictures and see if you can suggest what belongs in it, as I have no idea, apart from V.E might be King Victor Emanuel, which would date it to pre Ww1, WW1 (?)

The case is 58mm wide by 94mm long

My guess would be the Italian Order of the Crown. It would fit the round shape in the case.

thanks for the suggestion but upon trying a Italian Order of the Crown, it does not sit right in the box

the indentation is approxamately 38mm across.

Then I would think it's any of those royal commorative medals.....

as 38 mm is quite a standard measurement for medals.

I just measured my Order of the Crown Knight Cross. It is 37mm in 'diameter'. Are you sure it won't fit?

You didn't by accident try a Commander's Cross of the order?

Hallo Mike,

I actually removed my Order of the Crown from a medal bar, and it does not sit into the concave depression in the case correctly, the edge of the depression slopes down to about 31mm.

I attach a picture that has been highlighted to show the depression better.
