Paul R Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Exactly! I think that they are actually for a volunteer fire fighter.

Guest Rick Research Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Most Third Reich Feuerwehr boards have black Vs and black centers for the NCO ranks:The all carmine ones like yours are an older, Weimar Republic style-- and the sort of insignia as Paul says that a volunteer department would have been more likely to keep than professionals.
Paul R Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Thanks for the confirmation, Rick!! BTW, great examples!!!
Snoopy Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 Hello RickThanks for the info. Would these volunteers have continued to use these boards into the Third reich era? I really like your shoulder boards. Snoopy

lbsr Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Two more questions:1) What color is the underlay? Dark green?2) What material is the underlay? Wool?Thnx
Snoopy Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 HelloI have had this shoalder board for many years now. I seem to remember, that it came from a veteran of the norwegian resistance movement, via a friend of mine. I was told at the time, that it was for one of the lowest ranks of the SD. I'm not good at describing colours. To me, it doesn't look dark green, or it might be a bit faded. The material of the underlay looks more like cotton. If anyone can help me with this one, I would be grateful.Snoopy
