Alex K Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Attached is a known fake that eminated from Poland in the 70's.It has several distinct features to it.1) It is a one piece stamping of brass/bronze.2) The beading is rubbish.3)It has the strangest dates I've seen4) It has a spurious stamp on the pin of 5955) It is slightly smaller than an original. The example shown when obtained in the 70's had a silvered finish, over time however the silver wash has deteriorated to reveal the underlying base metalIt did come in the case- attached, don't know of the cases authenticity.regardsAlex
VonBierStein Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Amazing. Just walked away from one of these. Thank God. The date is what gave me a clue. I'm a novice and I saw this. Buyer Beware.
Alex K Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 Hi VonBeirStein, glad my posting actually helped someone, it's a minefield out there.regardsAlex
VonBierStein Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi VonBeirStein, glad my posting actually helped someone, it's a minefield out there.regardsAlexJust saw more of these at last show I went to. The dealer had a great story to go with it. I humored him and just walked away. It seems every show I go to I now run into these. Your info is still helping me out. I have spred the word to collector friends of mine.
joe campbell Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 (edited) funky lookin' pin and "patination" on thereverse that reminds one of the colorsseen in a toxic waste dump....the obverse, however, is engaging enoughthat many could potentially be deceived.caveat emptor!joe Edited December 23, 2007 by joe campbell
