Got this off a workmate today , was his Grandads and he was in the Army Service Corps in Egypt . It looks like he has stitched a shoulder flash to the top of the patch , the inscription looks Greek to me ?

These were worn by the Observers / Monitors in the 1945-46 Greek elections.

The top tab denotes the UK. The US and France were involved as well.

An interesting piece of not well known history.

I've always been interested in Greece's part in the Second World War, and the allied support both in 1940 and 1944-45.

    Lovely badge.

    SLIGHTLY :off topic:

The Greek goverment awarded my uncle with two service medals, the War Medal 1940-41 and the War Medal 1941-45. I'm not sure that he was entitled to the second one as he fought on the Greek mainland then on Crete where he was captured in 1941. Regardless, he was awarded both, though having read up on it, I'm not sure why.
