Christian Zulus Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 (edited) Hallo Chris I asked the seller about the size of the badge he said its 1 inch X 1 inch so its bigger than a mini.Kevin in Deva. Dear Kevin,o.k., than it's a badge .Isn't there something written on the crown - there are letters ?I have the strong feeling, that the item might be from the 1st Republic before 1933 .Sorry, I am not an expert in Austrian stuff - I only live there.Best regards Christian Edited April 30, 2007 by Christian Zulus
Great Dane Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Similar to this one? eBay Kappenabzeichen/Mike
Christian Zulus Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Similar to this one? eBay Kappenabzeichen/MikeDear Mike, yes, that's the same one .Best regards Christian
Great Dane Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 You mean 'same' as in 'similar'?Because I don't see the enamel damage on the left cross arm on that one /Mike
Christian Zulus Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 You mean 'same' as in 'similar'?Because I don't see the enamel damage on the left cross arm on that one /MikeDear Mike,no, I meant it's not the identical item, but a similar.Best regards Christian
Kev in Deva Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 Hallo Gents thanks for your input. There is no writing on the crown, and it differs from most tinnies as it has quality enamelingwhereas most "tinnies" were just that tin or aluminum, unless it was for officers??I thought at first somebody had adapted an enameled cross to this style, also interesting that no maker mark is shown to the rear.Kevin in Deva.
hunyadi Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I have one from a 2002 auction that lists this as a 'war effort' pin, given for those who gave money to help the war effort. It apparently also came in a case, but the auction does not show the case not the reverse of the pin.
Kev in Deva Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 Hallo hunyadi that makes sense as it appears to be a quality item, "patriotika par excelance" hopefully somebidy else will add more to the information.Kevin in Deva.
Kev in Deva Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 Another version spotted on Ebay, maybe for a second-class contributer to the war effort Kevin in Deva.
Christian Zulus Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Another version spotted on Ebay, maybe for a second-class contributer to the war effort Kevin in Deva. Dear Kevin, maybe we shall collect some scans and send them to ?GO http://www.ordenskunde.at/ . At least they don't have these badges at their (small) fake-site ....Best regards Christian
Gordon Craig Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 (edited) Kevin,I think this badge fits in with a post I made several weks ago. Similar good quailty enamel badge for wear on the side of the cap from WWI for donations to the war effort as Hunyadi says.http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=14567Regards,Gordon Edited May 3, 2007 by Gordon Craig
Kev in Deva Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Hallo Gordon, I agree its similar, however, I think that the one configured to hang like a medal / cross, would not be for wear on the cap, probably from the jacket or coat, as an item of patriotika.Kevin in Deva
Gordon Craig Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Kevin,I agee. I was referring to the device you post. Cheers,Gordon
