Bill Garvy Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) I was wondering if I might call upon the collective wisdom of this group to enable me to identify the manufacturer of this Iron Cross in 1st Class? It is lightly vaulted, and the core rattles a bit inside the frame. Please take a moment to note the cross hatching by the inner corners. . . Edited August 11, 2005 by Bill Garvy
Bill Garvy Posted August 11, 2005 Author Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) Here is a scan of the reverse. . . The initials "H W" are scratched under the pin. . . Edited August 11, 2005 by Bill Garvy
Bill Garvy Posted August 11, 2005 Author Posted August 11, 2005 Finally, here is a scan of the clasp and underside of the hinge. Please let me know if you would like me to provide any additional scans, and I will do so. Thank you for interest!
Glenn R Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Here's a Junkers of mine, frame details look similar particularly the cross hatching.
Glenn R Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 I don't have a picture of the reverse of the above cross but this one is supposedly an L/12 which I was offered for sale but never handled. Different pin etc but similar hinge to yours Bill. I can't vouch for the originality of this one though.
Bill Garvy Posted August 11, 2005 Author Posted August 11, 2005 Thanks, Glen. I had strongly suspected either Juncker or, less so, a Klein & Quenzer. . . Any one else?
Dave B Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Thanks, Glen.? I had strongly suspected either Juncker or, less so, a Klein & Quenzer. . .? Any one else?←I think Glenn is right, comparing the crosses they are very similar. Its definitely not a K&Q!(pin is like a Quenzer though)Dave
