Carol I Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Hi, this is the best I can manage, hope it helpsGreat! It appears that they are two city assay office marks for Vienna. I cannot imagine why the jeweller applied not one but two such marks on the loop when there already was one on the small ring.
Alex K Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 Hi Carol I, thanks for all the info you have provided. It does seem that this piece has certainly had it's fair share of assay markings!. BTW the dolphins mark does have a small I between them, so I can be fairly sure that it is silver gilt and not bronze gilt.many thanksAlex K
