    I'd like to add that there is not really a standard for these rings.. I've seen them in all different styles which don't seem to be setermined by location.. I've seen a few "Algiers 1944" rings in at least 3 different styles.. similar to this, round and even a thinner, more traditional wedding ring style.

    I'll try to put a few other examples together as my interest in them has recently been sparked...

    This one belonged to my grandfather. It was also used as his wedding ring when he married my Grandmother in Lyon whom he'd met and fell in love with there during the war.

    Here's one that just came in the mail today...

    This ring was made (most likely by a soldier) during his stay in Oran, North Africa in 1943, as part of Operation Torch.

    This one, as my Grandfather's has a nice weight to it and is a large size, although, not in mint condition, still very cool.

    Nothing much to say about it other than it is inscribed "Philippines 1945".

    Sorry for the pics.. This one was difficult for some reason.
