AlikN Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Here is Masonic Jewel that I would like to get some information on.Thanks
AlikN Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 ...it's made of 14k white and yellow gold, with chain 26 gramms.
Mike Dwyer Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 What a beautiful piece! About all I can tell you is it has the eagle of a Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason on one side, and the emblem of the Mystic Shrine on the other. There are also some other Scottish Rite emblems there too.
AlikN Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) Thanks Mike....... No my field of collecting, ...Is there a collectors market for those?...and ......$...? Edited June 6, 2007 by AlikN
paul wood Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 As it is marked 14K it would suggest that is of US production probably for a lodge of expatriate Scots (Many Scots emigrated to the U.S.A. in the 18th and 19th century). It may be worth contacting and American masonic website for more detailed information. Masonic jewellery is not heavily collected possibly worth trying E-bay once you have more information about the piece. All the best,PaulThanks Mike....... No my field of collecting, ...Is there a collectors market for those?...and ......$...?
Mike Dwyer Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) Thanks Mike....... No my field of collecting, ...Is there a collectors market for those?...and ......$...?I'm afraid this isn't my area of collecting either, I just happened to see your posting. I would think there would be a collectors market, but I have no clue about it or what the price would be. Sorry. Edited June 6, 2007 by Mike Dwyer
Mike Martin Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) I started collecting these but stopped, I had 3 until last year when I bashed em out on Ebay.It is not actually a jewel but it is an American Watch Fob. It is representative of the original owners degrees, this particular man Mr Codington was a particularly keen Mason . As has been mentioned he was a member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, York Rite and the Shrine.I must say that is one of the best examples I've seen especially with the extra fold-outs covering the Teutonic Cross, although it might orginally have had a further dangle on the bottom. You could expect around $200 - $300 US for it on the bay. Edited October 12, 2007 by Mike Martin
