Kev in Deva Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Close up of the Medals:No. 2 1878 Military Campaign Medal? No. 3 Signum Laudis Medal? Kevin in Deva
Kev in Deva Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Back of the card:At some stage it was stuck in an Album, the white stuff is fairly easy to remove,a job for a wet day, but at +34? I might have to wait a week or so to see rain Kevin in Deva.
hunyadi Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 My "guess" is 2) Jubilee Medal - 18983) Bosnia - Herzegovina Medal (1315 awarded!!!)but its hard for me to tell from the scans...
Guest Rick Research Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I'd say the second one from the size is the generic War Medal created in 1873 and awarded for wars 1848-1901/The third from it's hlaf/half ribbon and small silver size might be something Tyrolean from 1866 but I'm too far out of my field to be sure. He's a Major.
Josef Rietveld Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I agree with Rick with the 1873 War Medal aswell with the 1866 Tyrolian Medal (but that is only a guess, the picture is too bad)haynau
hunyadi Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 It was my understanding that the 1873 war medal was on a yellow and black ribbon similar in design to the war ribbon - that second one looks clearly like a solid red ribbon to me?

hunyadi Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 yes that is more plausable when you compare it to what is probably a red/white ribbon...
Carol I Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 a job for a wet day, but at +34? I might have to wait a week or so to see rain How are you surviving, Kevin? If there were 34 degrees in Deva, it's not hard to imagine what must have been in the south...
Kev in Deva Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 How are you surviving, Kevin? If there were 34 degrees in Deva, it's not hard to imagine what must have been in the south... Carol I Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 so far it has been reported that there have been 30 heat-related deaths in Romania, this summer!! "This summer" probably means the week or so since the heat wave came. Terrible! Stay cool, Kevin!
